Mine is any team playing against the Chiefs. Today, I'm a Bills fan. It's totally the Lions. They got a tough HC that gives no [BLEEP]. The have a city that people joke about. They have players that most people discarded until recently. Detroit is the northern Jacksonville. Jacksonville is the southern Detroit. We show less advertisements to registered users. There is a far cry from a 2-9 team and a playoff team. You have it stuck in your brain that we are on the verge as long as we get a good HC. We aren't. This team has very few players that would start on other teams. We need a couple of years to restock. And I guess next year will prove it. But we are 2 years removed from a playoff win, and last year we started 8-3. I just don't get what happened other than bad coaching, bad player development, and bad personnel decisions.

With some luck (a mid round draft pick or two turn into dominant starters) they can be a top team. The big problem the team has is they don't have enough dominant players in the trenches on either side of the ball. A couple of offensive linemen that win their matchups and a defensive tackle or two that does the same would have this team winning the afcs this season. With good talent evaluation all three of those can come in next year's draft, especially since we'll be picking high in each round.

It's true this team is lacking talent, but dominant talent at the right spots would have a big impact. The afcs isn't exactly the nfcn. I also think that Savage and Brown are good, but just not being used properly. Hell, most of the defense isn't being used properly. On O: Lawrence. Bigsby. Strange. BTJ. Morse at center for now. Harrison at RT. Little at LT. Both are serviceable. ETN is still good, but not used properly. But I think ETN is gonna have to be gone unless we franchise tag him, right? I love Kirk, but it's obviously he's not able to make it through a season anymore. Which is a shame. We are not devoid of talent. We're just dealing with coaches that can't figure out how best to use our players. Other teams have less talent than us, if you watch other games. The problem is that our coaches put players into the worst possible positions to be their best.

You start to reach on offense. I'll give you Lawrence, Bigsby, BTJ, and Morse. Strange, Harrison, and Little are not cornerstone pieces. Morse is also getting older and is on the downturn of his career. There are very few pieces to build around. This isn't a team that is filled with talent. You just want to think it's 100% the coaching that's the issue. I don't know how you can think three of our o-lineman are talented when we have a terrible o-line. We need two years of good drafting and FA to be competitive with the top teams. That's why I said we could compete for a winning record with a few more players and better coaching. But being a top team? No, we need a lot more.
Harrison was a 1st round pick two years ago, he better [BLEEP] BE a cornerstone piece.

Our O-Line is not going to get it done. But I think we focus heavy on the guards and let our tackles stick for now... To me the interior is the thing we need to shore up. Little and Harrison are serviceable. But the guards are old and deteriorating. And Morse loos like he's not gonna be able to be a stop gap. There's no way Lawrence will be successful if our Guards and Center cant shore up the interior pressure. You gotta go into the off-season and go all in on Offensive Guards.

The home games are going to be back to being blacked out locally. No one wants to go watch this trash. Well, unless you're the road team's fans.

About now till just before the combine this will be the popular take. then some shiney object will catch people's attention and we will not fix the o-line. Next stop Dollar General for linemen that other teams have found better options for.

They need too many holes fixed. I'd easily move back to the 7th or 8th pick, grab the best Olineman, pick two solid players in the 2nd round (once we fire Baalke and a compitent GM is making the pick).

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude. Next season I want him gone. |
