You know about all the media outrage over Trump supposedly getting a $400 million plane from Qatar? Yeah, turns out that storyline’s got more holes than Joe Biden’s memory.
It so happens the controversial Qatar plane deal didn’t actually start under Trump at all—but under Biden. Yep. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) revealed that negotiations for the plane began during the Biden administration, not as some royal "gift" to Trump, but as a practical conversation around replacing the aging Air Force One fleet.
Which makes sense—Air Force One is over 40 years old. But instead of honest reporting, the Left conveniently left out that detail to keep their anti-Trump outrage machine running.
This whole saga exposes yet another layer of political hypocrisy. Because truth bomb: Presidents have always accepted foreign gifts. It’s part of the diplomatic dance we’ve been doing since 1787. And while there are legal guidelines—like the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act—gifts over $480 can still be accepted if refusing them would cause offense or diplomatic harm. It’s literally in the law: 5 U.S.C. §7342©(1)(A).
So let’s stop pretending Trump getting offered a plane was some unprecedented act of corruption. Unless, of course, we’re ready to audit every administration back to George Washington.
But we all know that kind of accountability isn’t exactly the Left’s strong suit.

I get it.  There is a fine line between not accepting a gift vs offending a country.  It is still my belief that any and all gifts should be transferred to the state.  It is not a good look.

I thought it was being given to the Air Force. Is that not true?

My understanding is DoD and when Trump finishes his term it goes to “his library”.  My stance is no president should be accepting personal gifts of this magnitude.

It’s sad because two crewman were killed and others were injured. A beautiful ship too.

Yes multiple reports have said that.  It's the part I have the biggest problem with also.

Sounds like the Blueprint the Cult of The Jackass started using........ Just look at all the government regulations and the result of what happened in California recently. You can't do anything with your property anywhere without first getting approval from the government so they can line their pockets!!!!!

"The Most Chilling Prediction of All"
On February 2, 1905, the philosopher and writer Alissa Zinovievna, better known as Ayn Rand, was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. She would later become a prominent figure in American literature and philosophy.
Rand made a striking and unsettling prediction about the state of society, saying, "When you notice that in order to produce, you must obtain permission from those who produce nothing; when you see that money flows to those who deal not in goods but in favors; when you realize that many get rich through bribery and influence rather than through work, and that the laws no longer protect you against them, but instead, they are protected from you; when you discover that corruption is rewarded and honesty becomes a form of self-sacrifice, then you can confidently say, without fear of being wrong, that your society is doomed."
These words reflect Rand's deep concerns about the direction of society, where corruption and the manipulation of power undermine true merit and the values of hard work and integrity.

Which was given to the Reagan Library, by the DoD, after DoD got a brand new plane for Bush 41.  What plane will President #48 use?

Was Reagan’s AF1 a gift by a foreign government?

This new one will probably be ready for replacement in 7 years when JD is ready to start using it.

Immaterial, it was never "his" place, the same as this one will never be Trump's plane. It's our country's plane and will belong to the Armed Forces.

Yes, you are right. Unlike the helicopter Bill Clinton got from the Saudi's, the 500k in jewelry Hillary got and the other "gifts" previously outlined by Drifter in this string.  Where is the outrage about those?

I read an article yesterday on the Mexican masted ship which collided with the Brooklyn bridge and a commenter on the article asked how long it would be before Trump was blamed. Naturally the lefty commenters rebutted with scorn and ridicule.

Once the new one is ready, DoD could consider gifting the Qatari one to the Trump library.  Nothing about that should be promised now.

Boeing was suppose to have the new aircrafts ready before Trumps second presidency but it was pushed back, looking to be more like at the end of his term or longer. That is why the Qatar gift is being accepted by him and planned to be put in the Trump Library.

"Originally planned to be delivered by 2021, delays and cost overruns for the estimated $4bn construction programme have made it less likely that the two new planes on order will be available for much, if any, of Trump's second term in office, which expires in January 2029."

Mikesez wants Boeing to deliver those planes despite the issues in hopes that the wings fall off during flight.
