Mettenberger Flying to Jax Thursday

#81

Quote:ok..and?

As the other poster mentioned, with the supporting cast he had, he probably should have put up more success than he did.

As a day 3 pick, fine....anything before that would be reaching.

He had plenty of success.  Auburn game... bad conditions, no glove, no problem.

Honestly, the more stuff I read, the more I think its going to be Clowney/Mack in the first and then Carr in the 2nd if he's there.

First 3 rounds:

Mack

Carr

BAP

lol, I skimmed over what you wrote above and my brain initially interpreted it as this:

Mack

          Carr

CRAP ^^^

I'd rather draft Mettenberger than Carr.

I'm hoping Carr gets selected in the first round somewhere to take us off the hook.

Hey Tom Brady, Manning, and Brees are slow. They must stink.

UCF played 3 top 10 teams and beat 2 of them.  What did LSU do?

I totally agree. I like Berger more but I think this regime really likes Carr.

mettenberger didn't beat auburn. Lsu beat auburn. Regardless I just don't see him as a franchise guy. Now carr is someone who I hate the idea of at 3. But if the jags were to pick Mack and then get carr and round two I would have a tough time complaining. The organization obv knows more than I do so if they think that's the best way to go, so be it.

scary if true.

I'm hoping they are just bluffing there....showing faux interest with the idea of trying to maybe force another team who likes Carr to take him higher than they might, otherwise.

Its been reported that all the QBs (Bortles, TB, Crapoolu, Carr) are meeting with Jaguars, so everybody can calm down

Given the work we've seen from Caldwell did anyone really think we wouldnt? Heck he was shopping Gabbert last season and its already been said he does his homework well in advance with his FA pickups. Id expect the draft to be the same. We will probably meet with every QB with a 4th round grade or higher in these visits.

you're that easily amused?

if healthy, I think Mettenberger would be worth a chance in the 3rd round or later

Maybe Coughlin will bring him in like he did his (worse) brother.  What's good enough for Coughlin...

Mettenberger is gonna be a solid QB, the only problem's i have are the injury and has he learned from his mistake? If so i would take him if hes there in round 2, and we don't go QB in round 1

I wanna believe it but i just dont like his sluggish movements and you really can see him ticking off the progressions in his head in the same way you could see Gabbert counting his steps in his drop as a rookie. I just dont see a natural smooth football player and while he is lightyears ahead of gabbert and shows ZERO signs of fear or worries of phantom pass rush i just dont like his mechanical movements and staring down of receivers.

If he can be coached to flow through progressions and use his eyes better then he will be solid but if not i see teams that use disguises alot (Houston especially) killing him with changes to the pre snap look.

I understand were your coming from and there are valid questions, i don't think Zachary is gonna be Gabbert #2 ( at least for Zachary's sake i hope not) he does have the size, and he can throw the ball big difference i see Zachary is not scared while Blaine was scared.

<p class="">The NFL comp I've gotten most for Zach Mettenberger in talking to evaluators the last couple days is an interesting one: Drew Bledsoe.

Even still big props to Shack. There may be competition with Kyjaggy for the biggest QB draft guru after all :whistling:
