Mettenberger Flying to Jax Thursday
|
He has his Pro Day Wednesday and then his first stop after that is to Jacksonville.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...illing-up/ Of all the QB's, I think this guy is the most intriguing. He was slinging the rock at one point this past year. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
It's amazing what one year of actual coaching did for his confidence.
If we don't take a QB in Rd 1, I hope we pick him.
I would expect all of the top 6-8 quarterbacks to visit here.
I like Mettenberger. He's got a great arm but I would have concern about his limited mobility.
He's got some really really good traits in him. In a way reminds me of Brady the way he stands in the pocket and delivers strikes. His game against Alabama was a little ugly, but it's all part of the learning process
Shock the world

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Quote:Agreed.... I'll take the BergerIiiiiiinteresting. A question though, and one of you(Frail, Shack, or Jax), feel free to educate me since I know little about either. But how does Mettenberger differ from say a Ryan Mallet type? Both very big SEC QBs, both good height, both rocket of arms(Mallet's arm even stronger maybe?). Am I way off with the comparison, or are their similarities there?

I believe Mallett played in a very pass happy offense where as Mett played in a pro-style run the ball first offense. No one actually knows how Mallett is in the NFL because they dude has never played. I don't know much more than that but maybe the other two dudes do. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Iiiiiiinteresting. They do have similarities that's for sure. I like that Mett has good touch on the ball when needed.. Better than Mallett. Also he's a better character kind of guy.

Quote:Iiiiiiinteresting. Some similiarities. Mallett had some real off the field concerns including prior drug use. He seems to have kept clean in the NFL but that was part of the reason he slipped in the draft. My biggest concern with Mettenberger is the same as with Mallett. They are both statues in the pocket. And especially with Mettenberger coming off an ACL injury, that is big.
What's the highest round you'd be willing to take him? 3rd round?

Probably not. Mallet was just immature. Mettenburg was kicked off of UGA roster, but no one seems to know that. Quote:The dismissal apparently is related to Mettenberger’s March 7 arrest outside a bar in Remerton, which is near Valdosta. Mettenberger, 18, was charged with underage possession/consumption of alcohol, disorderly conduct, obstruction and two counts of having false identification . Mallet was a top 10 talent who fell due to being immature. Mettenburg is a 2nd-3rd round talent even before the ACL tear last season. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:What's the highest round you'd be willing to take him? 3rd round? Ideally, I would think so. Quote:It's amazing what one year of actual coaching did for his confidence. That's the tricky part with Mettenberger; was his improvement this past season simply due to a fluke type of jump or was it because he got some high level coaching? He's got all of the tools that he needs to succeed at the next level, but will he put all that potential into action?
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! |
