Jags state of the franchise broadcast on Jaguars this afternoon

Quote:thanks so how are they planning on incorporating the jags?

Khan is willing to develop the land. The plans they showed today (I'm sure the renderings will be posted at some point soon) include an indoor / outdoor practice facility on the land.  There would also be retail, hotels, restaurants, and possibly some sort of tourist attraction like a world class aquarium.

There are plans already well underway, and there are companies who have indicated they would participate including names everyone here would recognize.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If you want a feel for the scope of this overall project,

and look at what Lamping had a hand in when he was with the Patriots.

The vision and assets for the Jaguars here on on par with the Kraft, Rooney, Mara family operations.

The Jaguars will be the centerpiece of Downtown redevelpoment.

A future driven by an NFL franchise.

The economy tanked, scrapping the last project.  Khan has the resources to do this on his own, but I think their goal is to partner with the city to make this a collaborative effort that benefits everyone.

That last point is something that will shut up a lot of the idiots who constantly complain about the very existence of the NFL franchise.  The number of jobs and the overall economic impact if they develop that land will squash any investments the city has made in the team to date.

Lamping never worked for the Patriots...  He worked for the St. Louis Cards baseball team for years and then was hired on the build what is now MetLife Stadium in NJ...  Shad hired him from there to run the Jags...

Nevertheless, his leadership in getting stuff done is making this all happen...  It sounded to me like his enjoying the challenges in working with this team in Jacksonville...   Having him around is proving to be the asset that many of us thought it would be..    I suspect people will be blown away when this group finishes everything...

Yea,  all that...

And a half dozen or so Lombardi's to display at the Bank!

Yeah, you right!

Go Jags

I truly believe this group is determined to make it work here in Jacksonville to prove the naysayers wrong.  Like Khan when he first came to this country, the Jaguars are an underdog in the league.  Jacksonville is an underdog as a media market.  He proved an underdog could be wildly successful with his personal narrative, and I believe he wants to do the same thing for the Jaguars, and more importantly, Jacksonville.

If their formula continues to show merit, we may actually see at least a Lombardi or 2 to enjoy at EverBank.

I just came back from Jacksonville over the weekend, well to be more specific, Fernandina Beach.  My step dad, who was a season ticket holder untill 2009 has finally decided to come back to the Jaguars and is planning on buying at least 4 home game tickets for himself along with 3 other couples.  I've been trying to keep him interested in the Jaguars, it looks like he's finally coming back around.

On a side note, Fernandina and Amelia Island seemed more up beat this year compared the last few years I've visited.  The Omni Resorts took over the Plantation and are making changes that seem to be geared more to younger business types and tourists.  I also met alot of Georgia transplants that have moved to the area over the past few years.  Not sure if that's a good thing or not!  LOL.

I hope Jacksonville is beginning to feel a resurgence too.

You should advise him to get season tickets since the premium home games ( I now include the Browns in that list with JF coming to town) on the schedule, it should boost the sales of certainly good seats..  Of course, it they live at Amelia Island, they probably want clubs and those won't sell out for the season though Lamping sure talked about them enough today...

I live on Amelia and I can assure you that many, many Georgia folks bought property in the 30's-60's on Island for vacation and rental.

There was a long standing saying, if Georgia lost at GA/FLA, they would drive back, pack up and head home Saturday night.

In later years, they, Bulldog Fan would pack and load up before the game and head back from the stadium to GA if unsuccessfull.

If they won, you generally would read about it in the arrest reports in the News Leader or T.U.

They showed it during the presentation.  Sounds like there's going to be quite a bit of product out there we'll be able to buy with the logo.

Yeah, they probably will get the club seats for the games they go to.  I don't want to push him too hard as it is.  I've been giving him a hard time for giving up his tickets back when he did.  I'm just glad he's back on the wagon.

On a side note, me and the family also visited Disney World while we were in the area.  Orlando is only a 2.5 hour drive from Amelia Island.  I finally get the International Drive joke that had been going on around here!  I started laughing out loud when I saw the sign for International Drive in Orlando, and I immediately thought of the Jags MB!  My wife thought I had lost my mind, and it wasn't worth it to try and explain what I found so amusing!
