Quote:I don't think Strasberg is overrated. Just injury prone.

Harper on the other hand...seriously overrated.

They're both overrated.

I agree.

Sex is overrated.

Love is underrated.

...and before the usual suspects start to creep out of the woodwork....I'm not saying sex isn't great. We all enjoy it....however, what I am talking about is how "sex" has become an overimportance to this culture. Sex was always PART of peoples lives in the past...in todays "me" culture it dominates, and its usually just - "sex" - not love. Probably a correlation there somewhere.

As a serious film, it is terrible.

Agreed.  I've tried to like that movie, and I struggle to get through an hour of it without asking myself why I'm bothering.

Completely overrated.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If we're doing movies I'd go with "Avatar" as being overrated

Oh my god, not again.  Maybe you aren't up to snuff on your history because sex has always dominated and was much worse in our past history.  If sex is overrated then you are doing something wrong.  Or you may need to check your testosterone levels...

Sex has always been a part of life. However look at pop culture/ life in the 1950's compared to now and how the theme of sex is over exploited and displayed LOW BROW today by comparison.

If sex is the only thing going in your life, I feel sorry for you. But then again, you'd be typical of the current trends.

A good life is one of balance. Many different aspects and interests to enjoy, including sex.

And if you actually read what I described in my post I explained why I felt sex was overrated and it had nothing to do with doing it wrong or any personal experience - it was spoken from a more general view. Its funny though seeing that typical canned response always come out "oh if you feel that way you must be doing something wrong"....lol.... relax, no one's taking your pathetic unbalanced life away from you if sex rules your life to that extent.

Thinking sex is not overrated and that being my only focus in life are two completely different things. I enjoy lots of things. Doesn't mean I have to pick and choose only one.

As far as myself, I married my high school sweet heart. We met when we were 15.

You are comparing one decade to all of now? You realize 10 years in the history of man kind is a blip on the radar. Are you talking about a decade or sex within our culture in general? Sex has always been a huge part of it. Always. Past, present, future.

Sweets - People have a lot of trouble with sweets and I just never had the urge. Don't get me wrong, I like ice cream, cake, cookies etc but I just don't crave them.

You're kind of assuming he's not having sex with the love of his life. There is nothing low brow about that.

The way sex has been portrayed in pop culture from the early TV era to today has been a steady decline as the years went on, lower and lower brow and more trashy as it went.....until todays culture where you can't even watch the Grammy awards without seeing scum like Miley Cyrus and the other reject "twerking" on stage. No class. Look at the Jerry Springer show and other many various similar themed trash. And all they serve to be is a platform for imitators which the public (sheep) is more than willing to do. Life imitates "art" as so they say....

Sex has always played a role in TV and pop culture, thats understood. And I have no problem with that. I have a problem with it oversaturating it nowadays, and in the past where clever innuendo would suffice, now has been replaced by stuff like 2 and a half men....where the humor leaves nothing to the imagination and no concept/ regard for what aged people might be watching. That show is now syndicated and can be seen at any hours of the day. Would you want your kids watching that filth?

You seem to be confusing two separate things. Sex in itself has nothing to do with the over saturated, low brow smut you are talking about.

Which is still less trashy/ blatant than what you saw with Miley & clown at the Grammys.

Perhaps, Or people are confusing what my initial point was in my first post in this thread. Or both.

Lol. Things change. Just natural part of life. Going on about how great the past is in every thread isn't going to change that. There are many things that are better about the times today and many things that are worse just like there were many things better in the past and many things that were worse. Maybe TMD will understand this at some point through life as he tells his kids how when he was young he walked 5 miles to work every day.

But back then it was that. Many religious people thought that was the stuff of the devil.
