I hope Mexico gets destroyed.

I doubt they are pretending. There are probably a lot of people that only care about soccer when the US is playing in the World Cup. It's the biggest sporting event in the world. Probably people in every country that way.

The world cup this year is pretty exciting, IMO. At least I get to watch well known players like Balotelli, Messi, Naymar and Ronaldo on television for the first time. The U.S definitely add to the excitement, but I'll still watch the world cup even if they were already eliminated.

Also, can someone explain to me how the Champions league system works? Is it set up similarly to the World Cup where clubs are divided into groups and then shoot out matches afterward?

The idea originally was to decide get the champions of the domestic league in Europe in a single competition. Sort of a best of the best kinda thing. Now it's an amazingly lopsided affair that mostly serves to funnel TV money into the bank accounts of Spanish, Italian, German and English teams.

I've never sat at work and tried so hard to find an online feed.  I would have never done that before.  Soccer is becoming bigger in the US...it may never be football because they dont pull those kinds of athletes, but it will keep growing.

If you get even a handful of athletes that are on the NFL caliber, soccer will change in the US.

This Brazil v. Mexico game is the best game I've seen this tournament. Exciting the whole time.

Very exciting. I'm surprised Brazil hasn't scored yet. They were on the offense the entire second half.

I don't think the elite athletes our country produces will ever choose soccer over football, basketball, ect.  Other sports like MMA are also growing, so although soccer popularity is growing, it is still way behind.

Other countries like in Europe only have two really popular professional sports (Soccer and Basketball).  We have at least 6 (NFL, NHL, NBA, UFC, MLB, Soccer).

Is it a playoff system similar to the world cup tournament?

Mexican goalie is straight up dominating.

After that last save he gave a little shake of the head. He's feeling it right now. Hopefully he can hold up these last few minutes.

I don't get this game, no score in 90 min and that was a great game?

Exactly, and there in lies the problem.  There could be an outlier occasionally....a quick corner or receiver could easily go soccer instead of another route....one leads to two, and so on.  It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Dez White played at Bolles, and was an amazing soccer player.  He ended up at Georgia Tech for football, but I believe there was a decent chance he almost chose soccer.  Those are the guys soccer need to become bigger.

Yes but the knockout stage is two games instead of one. One game at each club's home stadium. Aggregate score, away goals count double.

I swear I will be re-watching the USA game just to count the FLOPS by the Ghana players.

The game was nearly un-watchable.
