It is about value. Franchise QB is always good value. There were 2, maybe 3 of those in this draft.

1) I'd have to go with Center, Leo, and Free Safety.

 

Center-  They say they have faith in Brewster.  They have so much faith in him they offered somebody else the richest Center contract ever.  We must protect Bortles.

 

Leo-  The most important guy on D.  We need some youth and talent.

 

FS-  An integral part to the Bradley system. Some would even argue the second most in his system.  They don't seem sold on Whimper or Evans.  So we'll see. 

 

2) I'd say if we pick between 5-15, a LEO or FS.  We can probably find a great Center in round 2.  I can't say I've watched Randy Gregory, but I have seen Vic Beasley...and he's gonna be bust city if you ask me.  LEO/Kurtis Drummond.

 

3) Assuming Brewster fails, which I think he will since they offered Mack so much money, in a miracle we could land Hronnis Grassu (really athletic Center from Oregon, could move well in zone blocking and hopefully bulk up against 3-4 NTs), or perhaps go for a FS if we go LEO in round one.  Maybe a big guy like Cody Prewitt.  Well that's my two cents, now invalidate my opinion with your opinion. Go Jaguars!

As of right now hroniss grasu looks like ke he will be going in round 1.  If we pick in that range I'd definitely be down with taking him.

You may not remember, but I thought Teddy was the best QB in this draft class. Heck, I had him in my signature for 6 months. 

 

Professional talent evaluators know better than we do. Caldwell and other GMs/Coaches thought Bortles was the best QB in this class. Teddy would not have been good value at 3.

But he is NOT a franchise QB. You can't say Teddy is worth a top 5 pick because he can be a franchise QB.. because he isn't yet.

Maybe they don't have the same mindset that QB supercedes all positions. They have a defensive minded head coach, as well. (Yeah, so do we, but we also have a stronger GM presence than I think they do)

If we went with a first round pass rusher, I'm leaning towards Devonte Fields.  I think he would fit a LEO role well.  He seems to use his hands well and has a pretty impressive pass rush arsenal, especially considering they were displayed as a true freshman.  He was the BIg 12 defensive player of the year as a true freshman with 18.5 TFL and 10 sacks.  He missed almost all of last year with a broken foot.  He received a medical redshirt and is a redshirt sophomore this year.

 

I haven't been sold on Gregory or Calhoun yet.

 

I would like to watch more of Kyler Frackell this year.  He is one to keep an eye on.

Teddy has the chance to be a franchise-level QB. So do all of the other QBs in this class. That doesn't mean they should be picked Top 5.

 

Teddy was not the best QB prospect in this draft. Blake Bortles was.
