Quote:Belgium handily beat the US not too long ago in a friendly. Belgium is pretty good. But, I think the US could win this one. Bradley has to be MUCH better than what he has shown in the group matches. He's been a real disappointment so far , to me.

Bradley has been a huge dud

Quote:Someone explain the Yellow Card thing to me, I know it's like getting a foul but how many are players allowed to get? does it mean they're suspended for the game?

2 in one game = red card

1 yellow in two consecutive games = one game suspension

30 minutes of OT, if tied you go to penalties

he isn't that good, but he is all we have.  we don't have anybody better on this roster to take his place.

A yellow card is called a caution or a booking. It doesn't have an immediate effect in the game but collect two in a game and you get a red card or "sent off". A red carded player must leave game and cannot be replaced effectively creating a permanent 11 on 10 power play. You can also get a straight red if the foul you've committed is severe enough. In both scenarios the player is suspended from the next match, though longer suspensions maybe enforced for severe fouls.

If you get booked in one match and collect another yellow card in a second match, you're allowed to stay on the field during the second match but will also be suspended from the next match.

Out for the game

and no, some fouls not serious enough for a card

FIFA have a set of criteria for refs to follow

Red cards for really serious fouls

You can also get yellows for unsportsmanlike conduct like time wasting

belgium is very good.... eden hazard, lukaku, arguably one of the best keepers in the game... they are a creative team... i would say like germany but not as deep, younger, and with a true #9 striker... i liked belgium coming into this and im kinda nervous we have to face them next.... then again pretty much everyone except greece i would be nervous to play at this point.

Quote:A team loses yet they still advance because another team lost in a separate game. That is wack.  Third world game with rules made up by third world  brains.  I'd rather watch preseason nba, nfl.

It happens in the NFL as well, you do know that right?  The playoff standings make this happen every year.

We'll all act like that doesn't matter.

he's pretty good.. i watched him play at AC Roma.... he can ball, he is just not getting a whole lot of help in the middle so i think he is struggling... its hard to be CM/CDM/CAM and not have much around you let alone against the best in the world.... bradley is a guy who normally makes good decisions and generally has a great pass but it seems like his first touch is off in this tourney.... could be from playing with this team against this competition and being a box to box player.... that will wear you out in one game let alone 3 or 4.

Just a bit of nomenclature:

The time added at the end of each half to compensate for stopped play is officially called "additional time" though the British also use the phrase "stoppage time". Though some people might refer to "additional time" as "extra time", officially "extra time" refers to the two periods of 15 minutes that are added to a match in case of a draw at the end of "regular time."

We definitely have him and Dempsey playing out of position with Altidore out.  When the other team has the ball, he is way up front with Dempsey like he's a striker.  I don't get that at all.

I don't get the two 15 min OTs when you have to play both no matter what

why not just 30 min straight?

Because you have change sides to make it fair.

there is just nothing else there... i think against germany he was like that because we had to have a more D minded team... if would had been against someone we could have loosened our D up against, i think you have would have seen wonderloski(however u spell that) come in to support dempsey and bradley fall into a more CM/CDM roll instead of trying to do everything in the middle himself.

Wind, field conditions, sunlight, position of fans
