An update on Blackmon...and well, it doesn't sound promising

Quote:Therein in lies the problem. They are without him because he's a drunk. THAT'S the bottom line. He has earned nothing as far as I'm concerned, especially a pity party.

No one is saying to give him a pity party. Theres quite a bit of space between "pity party" and you name calling him "Drunkman" every sentence in that post, like an immature child would.

You referring to someone as immature? Oh that's right you had an epiphany of your maturity in some other thread the other day. You actually had to pat yourself on the back for your own imagined mature response. I'll lay off your boy as it seems to ruffle your feathers pretty good.

Pity party, excuses for a drunk...not much difference the way I see it.

Oh so because I'm the one pointing out your comments in that post are immature, then it somehow makes it less true?? Go back and re-read your post and tell me that doesn't sound like the posting of an average 6th grader trying to sound funny in front of his peer 11 & 12 year olds.

I'll do it later, right now I'm busy filling an online order for a small batch whiskey to a resident of Oklahoma.

Quote:At this point even if the Drunkman returns all he will do is cause dissension in the locker room. There are guys buying in, doing the right things, working their tales off and suddenly the mighty Drunkman returns and they are gonna lose reps? The guy is beyond trusting and I do not believe Bradely has taking kindly to the Drunkman's non communication as his team mates have alluded to. I would lay down a wager that he never plays another down for the Jaguars or any other team. How many chances should a drunk get?

This is just a horrible post

HEY....leave me alone I'm drunk. Sheesh. But you guys don't mind. Right?

I don't see how Blackmon would cause any sort of dissension in the locker room.  By all indicators, he's actually a popular player in the locker room among the other guys.  His issues are not going to create any sort of chasm if and when he's reinstated, so suggesting otherwise is just plain silly.

Yep, it was. You'd expect something like that from a Texans/ Titans/ Colts fan....maybe thats what he really is.

I guess human nature checks itself at the door of Everbank. I think It's silly to not recognize the extremely high probability that other players will harbor ill will at losing out on opportunities that they might have otherwise received. If and when JB returns he will have to get reps and those will come at the expense of others who have been doing things right. That is a recipe for dissension.

That seems like a stretch. It would only cause a problem if he was given playing time he didn't deserve... which is unlikely since this regime didn't draft him

Okay then, if JB makes it back. How does Bradley insert him into the mix without getting someones goat? Like for instance, his first day back does he run with the threes, the twos, the starters? I think no matter what there will be players that will feel slighted that JB's third chance is taking away from their first chance and that will be a cause of friction.

Idk.  He will have paid his dues before seeing the field again.  If he makes the team and plays, it wont be undeserved and nobody should feel slighted.  It's not unlike any other situation on a football team where one player is chosen and not the other.

Quote:Blackmon is a STUD talent. He's already proven when he plays, he does so at a level that is among the better WR of the sport.

If I'm a fan boy of Blackmon, its earned. This team is wothout a shred of doubt better WITH Blackmon than without him, and thats the bottom line.

Me too, and that is the problem.

We all got just a small taste of how AWESOME this guy is.  Now we have nothing.

Moreover, what young player gets cut to make room for the dice-roll that is Justin Blackmon?

Pretty sure the team knows they cannot rely on him.

Probably one of the many young players that will never make it in the league.  If Blackmon slips up again, oh well... there will be plenty of young receivers available to replace him as always.

The coaches and GM will do a cost benefit analysis when it comes down to the decision.  I'm fine with whatever they do.  My guess is that the benefit of keeping Justin Blackmon outweighs the benefit of keeping a young undrafted receiver.

In other words:  Keeping Blackmon = high risk, high reward

cutting Blackmon = low risk, low reward

Yes, I'm sure seeing the best receiver on the roster getting reps is just going to fracture the locker room.

Even if he hadn't been suspended, those same players would wind up losing a roster spot to him.  Life is tough.

Fracture? maybe not, but it will most certainly cause dissension with a portion of the players. To say otherwise is to ignore the nature of humans.

If he had not been suspended there is more than likely one or two less of the players that I refer to would be be on the roster now.

Being professionals will lend more credence to what I am saying. Professionals work hard, do things the right way and expect to be rewarded for their efforts, not pushed aside to let a drunk get his third chance at trying to be that same professional you claim him to be.

It's not "certainly" going to do anything to the team chemistry.  Players are most likely going to be supportive of him getting another chance.
