It all depends on what the 9ers really want. Plus if he can play Center, or if we can flip some players around and make it work that would be awesome. He is a Pro Bowler after all

It all depends on the price. This guy is unhappy playing for a Superbowl contender. So he obviously has some issues. If the price is right and it seems like he would be happy here, then yeah, if not, we have young guys who are hungry and may still prove to be good players. It was one preseason game. The line needs time.


Honestly at this point I'm most worried about the center position.

Unless your GM has a clue what he's doing, in which case the expectation should be that if you're being selected in the first few rounds of the draft, you'll contribute, and you'll play at a high enough level that being a pro bowler is certainly a possibility.

I said why don't more teams do it, because it does not happen often. In the NFL, early and mid round picks are like gold. They mean you have a player for four years at a reasonable salary. That is why teams do not usually give up picks for veterans wanting a new contract.

There you go again, trying to trade away any player on the Jaguars squad that shows even a hint of promise. My prediction: if Bortles plays at a high level, you'll be pushing for us to trade him in three years because "he's not worth what we'd have to pay him" or "he just looks better because everyone around him is so terrible" or something.

Not really. Monroe was coming to the end of his contract and it was apparent to those who make such decisions that he wasn't coming back. If you're planning on being active in free agency anyway, you're not going to get a third-round comp pick no matter how big his deal is, so why not offload him to another team for a couple mid-round picks and let them try to keep him? Boone is under contract, he just wants a raise. Doesn't even seem to want out of SF. Regardless, I don't think he's traded. SF will want too much for him.

The 49ers refuse to talk contract with him unless he shows up to camp.  Boone refuses to show up to camp unless they talk contract.  Trade seems 50/50 at this point.  I think a 4th rounder is fair compensation for him.  Monroe got a 4th and 5th as a left tackle, so a right guard that's slightly better should fetch something similar.
