This Defensive line gives the Jags a shot at winning the AFC south this year

The AFC south stinks, it's not out of the realm of possibility

I think this Dline has a chance to be very very good.

However... if the offense constantly puts the D back on the field, they'll get tired eventually.

The offense has to be competent enough to put up 20 points a game if they want to win with defense.

I'll wait to see how the offense looks with Robinson, Gerhart and Shorts and once the Oline at least gets settled on starters at C and G

Gotta love the optimism in the preseason. With that said, if we have a chance to win any division, it's this one. I'm sticking to 7-9 or 8-8 until the OL can prove they can open some lanes for Gerhart and Todman and give Henne some protection.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Quote:I think you're getting ahead of yourself here. Defense may win championships, but you've got to have an offense too, and with Henne or a rookie QB I'm not walking in with anything resembling expectations of a division championship.
I tend to agree, but the division is not very strong....if the colts slip at all....its up for grabs

LOL, delusional.

The Colts are still here, and unless something happened to Andrew Luck....

idk. The colts have to play the AFCN (Bengals, Ravens, Steelers: all competitive teams that the colts have had trouble with past couple seasons). Even the Browns may give them some trouble.

Also, being a division winner last season, colts have to face Denver and NE, with the other AFCS teams getting lesser competition from standings.

This division should be the colts'. But, honestly, AFCS could be similar to the older NFCW, where the division winner could post around 8-8,9-7.

Will the Jags, Titans, Texans win 8 games? Uh,, I personally don't think they will. But, it's certainly possible for the colts record to slip around .500, and one of their rivals to "surprise" and push around .500.

Meaningful games in December is what I'm hoping for.

Um, we have to play the same AFCN, too...

The Denver/ New England point is a good one, tho.

I second that.

I think it's the Jaguars time to break out and compete for division titles....... I just don't think it will start until we have good O-Line a QB that controls the Offense better.  They'll be 4-12 again. Might even start off the season 0-4.

Yeah, I know AFCS plays AFCN this year. Yes, it will be similarly difficult for the rest of the division. I was just pointing out that the Colts (for whatever reason) have had difficulty with them. Bengals smashed them last year.

Plus,, and I have no idea why,, the Texans can stink, but the Bengals just have issues with them.

Exactly.  As the topic states it gives this team a chance.  The Texans make our QB situation look good, Britt and Johnson are gone in Tennessee and The colts offensive line is very questionable.

Britt & Johnson being gone from that team is an upgrade. Neither has been worth much in a long time.

With Chad Henne at QB this team won't win anything of substance. Period. He's a backup QB that has been placed as the starter.

Not just picks, pick sixes.

They threw 5 in their first 8 games last year...

I think Chad can hit that mark.  If he tries really really hard...
