Ryan Mallet to be traded

Quote:I'd much rather the Texans run with Mallet then have them draft a QB high like Winston or Mariotta.

And maybe Mallett wins one or two more games than Fitzpatrick would have. Keeps Houston away from an elite QB and saves Rick Smith's job.

Hopefully, the neighborhood stray doesn't start barking too much over this.

Quote:Mallet is an immobile, inaccurate quarterback with a very huge arm.

In this day and age, where you have teams that stockpile D-Linemen to rush the passer and nothing else, your quarterback must be semi-mobile, and Mallet is a guy that will go down as soon as you touch him, and would lose a foot race to Louis Nix.

I'm sorry, but I feel like your infatuation with Houston and Mallet is directly in spite of the fact that people are telling you you're wrong about him and that he's nothing special. The fact of the matter is, he isn't anything special until proven otherwise, and the odds are completely against him.

We'll see.

I saw Mallett sling the rock all over the field in college. High YPA, beating tight coverage.....not sure where the inaccuracy thing comes from, he looked pretty accurate to me when I watched his QB play his final year in college.

I get that he hasn't yet shown much as a pro, but I'm far from ready to assume that he can't cut it in the NFL.

The first game he started this preseason, he couldn't hit a broad side of a barn. He had a good makeup game the next week, but his overall performance in the preseason he has done nothing but check the ball down and go through the motions. He has done nothing to even warrant being on a roster as long as he has since he's been drafted.

College is a different wolf as far as making risky throws goes. Teddy Bridgewater is a huge example of a guy who we know can make all of the throws, yet in his first game insisted on throwing checkdowns and was generally afraid to make those throws. I'm not sure I've seen anything from Mallet that leads me to believe he can be a productive starter in this league.

You've had your moments as far as predictions go, but I'm pretty confident you're gonna miss on this one. We'll see.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

I agree with everything D6 said here. The texans getting mallett is a win for the jaguars.

I hope he's the starter when we play them hahahahahhaha.

Also being a 6th or 7th round pick is hilarious too since the almighty whining pooch was clamoring we give up a 2nd round pick for the future hall of famer ha hahahahahhaha ha

Hilarious all around. BG netted as Much in a trade as the almighty Ryan mallett.

Well done, Texans, well done. Can't wait until mallett leads you to the cellar of the afcs..... Oh wait....
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

If the Texans were sold on Mallet they would have traded for him months ago so he would have been in for training camp.

I about fell off my rocker when TMD said "Houston got their QB". Where do you get this stuff dude?

A conditional 7th. That's just bringing a guy in to be a back up. That's a Luke McCown deal.

Gabbert even mustered a 6th...

The voices in his head.

That seems to be where he gets most of his "facts".

People thought he was worth a 2nd or a 3rd? Huh?

Quote:Whelp, the Texans got their QB.....and now have Savage as a developmental future trade chip.

Well done, Texans.....well done.

Pardon me one moment.

Hey now.  Let's be fair.  I'm sure Savage will be worth a conditional 7th round pick some time in the future.  His 5.1 YPA this pre-season was just his head coach holding him back I'm sure.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Gabbert was also the 10th overall pick in the draft.

Translation they both suck.

Well, we'll see if TMD's right. Personally, this seems like a desperation move to grab a bad player.

It's a 2016 pick no less. Seems like NE didn't have much value to him if they're willing to wait 2 years to be compensated.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Has a qb traded for so little ever gone on to do much?

Since you "watched" him in college, then you know he blew a sure win against Alabama nearly single handedly.  That was enough for me.
