Also, don't think we would worry about that we'd sign him to our 53 to counter.

 

@caplannfl: And no, Josey wasn't signed because they play the Eagles in Week 1. They plan to carry him all season. And if needed, to 53.

SHuler has bounced around the league since 2010, and hasn't appeared in an NFL reg season game since then. 

 

Jensen is a young guy with potential. Shuler is a player who really hasn't much potential and doesn't give you much of anything now either. 

 

Would have much rather just kept Jensen. 

 

Jensen didn't seem to show much early, but later in the preseason he showed his potential.

 

I would have preferred to keep him, but this isn't anything I would throw a tantrum over.  Every year this time of year, there are always a disappointment or two in final cuts, etc.

I didn't know a team was able to counter like that. I was under the impression that if another team added a player from your PS they signed with that team and were gone. (but the caveat being they had to be paid for the remainer of the year as a rostered player or something). 

I meant, the player has to agree to sign with another team...which virtually any player would do to get the big raise. However, if the Jags made it clear to Josey that they would add him to the 53 if he was about to get sniped he could choose to sign to the Jags 53 as opposed to the other team.

Right, but if the other team had a clearer path to PT the player might take the other opportunity even if the Jags decided to match. 

 

In a lot of those situations the team signing a player from another's PS have the more immediate need at said position of that player.

We just cut Jensen today....how come he doesn't have to go through the 24 hour waiver thing? How were we able to sign him to the PS the same day?
