Waiver Claims

(This post was last modified: 09-01-2014, 03:54 PM by Scarecrow.)

Quote:I made a pretty lengthy list in the AR15 thread of Jags WR that have worn the teen numbers that have either been disappointing on the field, been an injury case, or had off field issues.

As a matter of fact the list of Jags WR that have been a success with the teen numbers has been a perfect 0.
That's because they weren't that good to start with. Putting a different number on them won't increase their talent level.

Yes, Blackmon wasn't any good to start with. You're right.

Or snoozing for that matter.

No team claimed him on waivers.

No team signed him after clearing waivers.

All he gets is a try out.

Wait. I think I know who the loser is in this scenario.

Did CB Jamell Fleming get signed to another NFL P.S.?   I don't recall seeing his name on any of the P.S reports the last couple of days.

So, while -no- the number does not "guarantee" anything, but I surely wouldn't [BAD WORD REMOVED] into the wind, either.

So Reggie Williams should've worn 81?

This is what I don't understand.

So if Reggie Williams would have worn a number in the 80's, he'd be a better player?  If Justin Blackmon wore number 81, he'd be a better WR?

It makes no sense.

If Andre Johnson wore number 13, would he not be as good? Randy Moss? Jerry Rice?

No.  Their talent is what matters, not their jersey number.

I hate to label ideas as stupid but this one is pretty out there.

My point? You claimed they were all bad players from the start.

I cited a player within seconds to disprove your claim, so you then throw up the above shuck n jive?

That I am unsure with. I just know that he didn't get signed to the Jags PS, which was somewhat disappointing. He looked decent.

You didn't disprove anything.

I said the WR's that failed with numbers in the teens didn't fail because of their jersey number.  They didn't make it because they didn't have the talent  or ability to do so.

Disprove that one and I'll give you a cookie.

I said it best with the following:

I made a pretty lengthy list in the AR15 thread of Jags WR that have worn the teen numbers that have either been disappointing on the field, been an injury case, or had off field issues.

There seems to be bad mojo with the Jags WR wearing teen numbers.

Clearly the #14 convinced Justin Blackmon to drink more alcohol.  If he had only been #81 he'd have gave up drinking for good.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Lets try this one more time...

Their seems to be a lack of talent level in the Jaguars WR wearing teen numbers.

Tell the number superstition to Chicago's wideouts Alshon and Brandon Marshall

And equally as asinine.

No way he is being serious.

I'm sure Fred Biletnikof must have been terrible wearing a strange number like 25 instead of 85
