For what it's worth. Philly opened up in green tops in 2010 and wore green week 3 in 2012.

 

They wore throwbacks, which were a different shade of green. Even the eagle logo at midfield was different. FWIW their opponent was Green Bay. I know because I watched the game.

The point is that home teams still are utilizing the advantage of forcing the opponent to wear their darks in early season games. This is a fact.

I get where you are coming from, but yet the logical side comes out in me.

 

These players are "professionals" and as such, they are expected to be fully prepared.  Being prepared means not only hydrating the body, but also having your head in the game.  If it get's into your head that the dark color uniform put's you at a disadvantage, then you aren't a PROFESSIONAL.

 

My guess is that the color of uniform is not decided by a coaching staff, rather it's probably decided from a "uniform staff".  If the color of uniform is a "coaching decision", then the team must really suck or be really desperate.

BTW.  The brown is meant to simulate the leather helmets worn with that uni in 1929 with Curly Lambeau at the helm.  They went 12-0-1 that year.
