It's better than the Colts without Mathis.  Plus week 1 for Bortles was not a possibility.  My opinion is that they are giving Bortles the first two games to sit and watch how things are supposed to go (game planning, ect.) and then they'll start him against the Colts.  NFC games are not that important.

 

That is the only way we compete this year.  If they sit him against the divisional opponent.  It's obvious that we aren't really trying to win this year.  Yes, players will try, coaches will coach, but they aren't truly giving us the best chance to win.

As much as it sucked to see the team blow a big lead at the end of the game, the very fact that they were still in the game late is encouraging.  It's like people have forgotten how bad things were when we started last season, and don't seem to remember just how bad this team was.

It's never been indicated by Gus or Dave that he'd sit the entire year.  At least nowhere that I have found.

Of course it isn't set in stone. It could always change at any time. But that interview was right after the draft. And Caldwell seems pretty clear he'd like Henne to start the entire year. Good for them that they are sticking with their plan. We saw the results yesterday of half of that plan. The other half is whatever Bortles is supposedly gaining from sitting.

we remained "in the game" because we had a 17 point lead, not because we were doing something  positive.  It takes time for a 17 point lead to evaporate.  

 

It was exactly like last year.
