Bradley didn't say no...

Quote:Rodgers was expected to be a top five pick. Everybody was surprised he dropped to 24. So actually that difference is irrelevant.
Actually no it is not...

Because he was picked 24th overall.

Guess what...

I can name off 10 different "analysts" who did not project Bortles to be picked within the top 5.

JW, you are digging your proverbial hole deeper.

Quote:When a player from the entire college ranks is drafted #3 of all 300+ players you would think that player is capable of playing without needing a year to get trained. Sure, the player would need some in game experience, but how many 1st round players, all 32 of them, are playing?

Regards........................the Chiefjag

all of them except a couple injures and 3 quarterbacks.  of course hoyer deserves to play he is winning. bortles and bridgewater should be playing soon. considering how the "quarterbacks" and I use that word loosely, are playing in front of them.

Quote:You know what else helped Rodgers and the Green Bay?

Having BRETT FAVRE play in front of Rodgers.

I would kill to have Bortles sit behind Favre and learn how to play.

Henne? LOL.

Rodgers had Brees

Brady had Bledsoe

Brees had Flutie  (Even then Brees took a while longer to actually improve to the point he is today)

Montana redshirted back in the days when the league was much different

Kitna had perhaps one of the best years of his career ahead of Palmer

Chandler was ahead of McNair too.  (For two years at that)

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:They roll Henne out quite a bit. That only works effectively if you can sell play action. When you look at the way teams defend us, they're not worried about us running. That's not going to change with Bortles in there. They have to commit to the run, and they need to quit trying to run outside with a between the tackles running back.

I'm starting to think Fisch is a one-trick pony. He swallowed Shanahan's system and seems unable to innovate beyond it.

Regardless of what happened today, if they name Bortles the starter this week the stadium will be electric and the team will respond.  Division game/Bortles vs. Luck.  There will be buzz all week.  If they stick with Henne we will probably see more of what we've seen in the first two games.  That is why he needs to start this week.

Quote:Patience is earned more than just given. You expect to see growth and improvement. When we just got destroyed 41-10 by a team that was on a 9 game losing streak there is a problem.

Insanity: Doing the same thing thing over and over again and expecting different results

Please do not ask us to be insane because some fans and this staff choose to be.

Oh i hear ya. Im not agreeing with what theyre doin at all. But that's gotta be what's happening here. I would seriously consider making a change in staff if there isnt a reason for optimism at the end of the year.

If they truly thought Bortles needed this much "seasoning", then it wasnt the direction to go. Caldwell also said Johnny was the most pro ready..... Which calls into question his evaluation skills a bit

Quote:We need to start running I formation and let Toby pound it through. This zone crap is not working.

It doesn't matter what formation they run from when the defense run blitzes every down.  If the defense is bringing 5 or 6 guys on every down, the run game won't get better until the defense backs off because of being torched by the passing game.  That won't happen with Captain Checkdown Batted Balls running the offense.

Once Pasztor and Shorts are ready, maybe that will be a good time to trot out Bortles.  Pasztor should be an immediate upgrade to our RT position and Shorts will obviously bring a vet presence to the WR group.

This whole "wait till things are better" mentality is just stupid.  Blake makes the Oline better because of his athleticism.  A good QB masks the problems of his Oline because he can move in a pocket, create space, extend plays, step up, climb in the pocket, reset his feet, etc.  Henne can't do it.  Blake does it, and he does it well.  Whatever this whole Chad Henne thing was this season, it has to end.  This is just beating the dead horse that is Chad's career as a starting QB.

At least you'll have a RT who is competent, and a receiver who is a reliable outlet.  It won't fix what happens from RG to LG, but at least we won't see guys blasting into the backfield unchallenged from the right side.

To put him out there behind the line as it's currently configured?  Let's just put him on the IR now and be done with it.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Wait...did I miss something........Henne is on IR. Oh I get it.......Bortles is so much less mobile in the pocket than Henne that he'll get hurt.

I agree.  Both of those guys look like they have a shot to suit up this week and it should be a significant improvement to the offense.  If both of those guys are there, I think I'd be okay with letting Blake go out there.

A QB can only rely on his mobility for so long before it catches up to him.  Behind that line, I don't care how mobile the QB is, he's going to take a beating.  All it takes is one hit to end a season.  Personally, I'd much rather watch Henne get pummeled behind that line until they get it right than to plug Bortles in and HOPE he can run around enough to avoid getting crushed while continuing to work on his mechanics.

I think I'd still be reluctant at least this week.  Pasztor hasn't suited up in weeks.  Let him get his legs.

I think I'm seeing a pattern here.  You're a wuss.  Got it.  Moving along.

You play the kid.  His athleticism helps the Oline.  Him throwing the ball makes the running game better.  Him running the offense makes the defense better because they won't be getting gassed in the 1st quarter.  Put the kid in.  I'm not saying he's a world beater.  I'm saying that you actually want to watch CHAD FREAKING HENNE play quarterback for us when we have a guy who's proven to be better waiting to play.

Eh, it was a hand injury so I think I'd be okay with not waiting.

I think Bradley is in a tough spot this week and probably has some regret about painting himself in a corner with his comments. Fans are tired of it and starting to turn. People will voice their displeasure by not showing up on Sunday. Going to football games is supposed to be fun, it shouldn't be about suffering.
