Adrian Peterson indicted for child abuse

Quote:Okay, Peterson admitted he went overboard.

Im sure there are some children out there who are being abused more severely who wish they had a voice to be heard.

I'm sure there are wives out there who are being abused more severely than Janay Rice who wish they had a voice to be heard too.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

If punching another grown adult once in the face warrants a year long suspension, beating a four year old child bloody with a stick should result in a lifetime ban.

Go back and read the links you posted in your response to me.

I literally freaking said nothing that contradicts those links. You'd have to be stupid to think that being abused is an absolute guarantee for criminal behavior and drug abuse. The point is that there is a societal trend away from such behavior that correlates with parenting that doesn't include corporal punishment. There is not a societal trend away from such behavior with parenting that does include corporal punishment.

You being disciplined that way and turning out "fine" is just as insignificant as me not being disciplined that way and turning out fine. Anecdotes do not matter.

But it's idiots like you that support whippings and abuse because you endured them in your past that silence their voices and perpetuate this myth that it's okay to abuse a child as a means of discipline.

And it's idiots like you that equate all corporal punishment with "abuse" because you disagree with the concept.

Oh dear, this is your quote from earlier.......

"The CDC also released a report that shows that teens (you know, the ones that have been spoiled by the lack of "whippings") are less likely to get pregnant, more likely to practice safe sex, less likely to use "illicit substances" and more likely to exercise than previous generations"

The point is, last time I checked, it wasnt illegal to give my child a spanking.

Show this "idiot" a post where I "supported" child abuse.

Again, this "idiot" said time out work for some kids, spanking work for some, and whippings work for others.

I gave you a like for your mature response if you are wondering the reason.

I thought people were discussing the difference between a spanking, whippings and child abuse?

Okay...my bad.

No one is vilifying spanking.

People are taking issue with a grown man using a weapon on his four year old child to the point that he has marks a weak later. A four year old. A vulnerable, defenseless baby person, who's entire world is his parents. One of which is causing him severe bodily harm with a foreign object.

Tell me you see the difference.

He and others having a hard time understanding that.

I think the topic is on what AP did to his 4 year old. What he did isn't a general concept or idea. What he did was very specific. Most are saying what he did was wrong. Not because he used spanking/whipping as a parenting technique, but because he went too far, way too far.

Okay, let's try a thought experiment. Keep it a thought experiment, for obvious reasons.

Take an (imaginary) revolver. Insert one bullet.

Spin the cylinder. Put it to your head and pull the trigger.

Spin the cylinder again. Put it to your head and pull the trigger.

What do we learn from this?

What I learn from it is that you're a [BAD WORD REMOVED] idiot and just got lucky. If you keep doing that, you'll end up dead.

What you learn from it is that Russian Roulette is perfectly safe for some people.

Which of those learnings seems more valid?

Is it shocking that another story is coming out about Peterson and then 4 year old son (another one) got a whooping in the car and sustained facial injuries? Yeah you're right JFC, he is just doing this out of love. He is a model citizen on how to raise your kids.

Maybe we should have some thinking in a "thought" experiment? Death is the inevitable outcome of your actions there, it's not when corporal punishment is involved. In fact, human history tells us that it's turned out well for hundreds of millions of people over time. Just because you don't like that truth (as all "But that's just an annnneeeccccote" stuff shows) doesn't make it less true.
