As you can see, this is pretty contradictory.  You want another title on top of the Heisman and the title that he already delivered but at the same time you want to take the moral high ground and call the kid an embarrassment and tell the lie that you can't wait to get back to 7-5 while the QB reads his senior thesis on women's studies at halftime right?

 

There are two types of people on this board.  People who have said worse than what the kid said, and liars.  IF it turns out that he actually raped the girl or something like that then that's one thing but being a POTTY MOUTH?  REALLY.  Is that where we are as a society? 

 

When you look at the totality of the kids stay, aside from the situation with the girl, that's different don't get me wrong.  Crab Legs?  He's out there making millions of dollars for a university and the boy can't have some crab legs?

It's far, far worse in academia than in regular society, though we're seeing the encroachment of this kind of foolishness more and more every day. No one has the right to not be offended, but we certainly seem hell bent on getting to that impossible condition.

I agree for the most part. You make great points, but someone like Winston can't be spouting off at the lip like he was in the student union, and like quite a few have said this latest incident and punishment stemming from it is a culmination of stupidity on his part, not the current incident as a stand alone thing.

 

And I am a little cofused on your crab legs comment. He stole from a store. He is making millions for a school, but that has nothing to do with anything. His words were something to the effect of, he forgot to pay. Really, that's the best excuse?

Dumbest post of the thread.  Yes, he cant have crab legs because he didnt pay for them!  He gets free room and board and an education....which even if you dont believe it is still what this all boils down to.

 

Potential rape and another girl who had to see a psychologist after a sexual encounter, bb gun, crab legs....I know there was one or two more.  He was basically suspended for stupidity, and you want to let him have a pass.

 

I like seeing threads like these because most logical FSU fans, and they are a large majority in this thread, agree with the suspension...and then you get the blind homers that dont.

Ha, I thought the same thing.  With that reasoning you could say that every Wal-Mart employee should get free stuff wherever they go because Wal-Mart makes so much money off them.

If any normal student had the same situations as Winston, they'd have the same punishments. A rape accusation but never charged? No punishment. That's the way the system works for everyone. A first time misdemeanor petty shoplifting? Community service and/or probation, just like Winston. Shooting BB guns at squirrels disturbing the neighbors at a time and place where it is legal? Cops called, questioned, no punishment. Shouting filth from a table at the student union? Maybe chewed out by a faculty member if one is present. No punishment.

 

In addition, Winston has served 3 games suspension from the baseball team and now a half game suspension from the football team. It's an embarrassment for the university whenever any athlete makes the news in a negative way, but I have no problem with how they've handled it.
