Quote:Traded!!!!!! OMG. I really did LOL. That was good. Who would take him?
If SF can take Gabbert for a 6th, I'm sure some team would take him as a 2nd string QB.

And who's our second string QB if you do that?

Our defense came back to life partly because of Bortles giving them some time to rest between drives..

I'll do it. I'm plenty qualified to go three and out all game for zero points.

Quote:My issue is the few on here who think everything will be fixed because Bortles is playing. He'll help but this season will still be a long one. Especially when the defense doesn't prevent the other team from scoring until the third quarter.

Nobody thinks that Bortles fixes everything.  He makes the team more competitive, because he's simply better than Henne.  If people thought Bortles fixed everything, they'd be yelling at him for that pick six, instead of celebrating.

It's like you're building a straw-man to argue with because you're not sure what to do now.  We're not going to be a playoff team this year, but now we have some hope of winning a few games.  Maybe even 5.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I think that when all the 3 and outs are history you will see an improvement in the defense. 2 first downs in the first half and the defense on the field for over 23 minutes will take it's toll.

Quote:Yup he was ready week 1, Gus held him out of pride since he said definitively he would sit regardless.

If any of the great head coaches watched what we seen with him preseason they would have started him point blank, only reason I could possibly understand not starting him is if we had a great proven veteran QB, kinda like Farve and Rodgers...

Building a team starts with QB. You probably think building a team starts with an offensive lineman. Bortles is the QB we will start to build with. The most important person on the field is now accounted for and now we look to defense in the 2015 NFL Draft and FA.

I don't think many believe he will fix everything but he can move the ball and extend a drive occasionally. We had like 28 yards in the first half with Henne and ended with decent total yardage at the end of the game. That's what people think he can do

When your defense has played 22 of the 30 minutes in the first half what do you expect to happen? These are humans and they get tired.

Our defensive backs were playing so far off the receivers they must have thought they had the Ebola Virus. Mix that with no pass rush and it's not difficult to see why we looked so bad.
