Clearly you guys went all Jag Woman on my and didn't understand my sarcasm about Poz. Even more Clearly is that Poz is not the guy he was when he got here in '11

Wasn't he our only pro bowler last season?

Quote:Anyone complaining about the defense doesn't understand football or the importance of the TOP battle. Just look around league at the scores of the games last Sunday. Guess what? Teams score points; offenses are moving the ball on everyone's defense.

The difference between giving up 24 pts and 41 points is time of possession. You can't ask the defense to be on the field for 78 plays in one game and have an level of success. You can't go 3 and out over and over and expect the D to overcome that. It's completely unreasonable. Quite frankly, the defense has been sabotaged by Gus Bradley's mishandling of the qb position.

Gus is the donkey.

I agree with this, the constant 3 and outs are equivalent to turnovers.

IIRC he was a pro bowler in the same way that Garrard was a pro bowler. I don't pay much attention to the pro bowl these days though, so I could be totally wrong about this.

Yea he had a bunch of tackles last season, Poz is a solid two down linebacker but struggles mightly in coverage, he lacks the speed and change of direction ability required to cover tight ends and RB's out of the backfield, the MLB needs to be upgraded.

The entire linebacker unit needs to be upgraded.

The TOP battle is a valid point  -  but to pin all of the defensive woes on that alone is a gross oversimplification of the problem(s).

TOP doesn't make Telvin Smith, Winston Guy and Dwayne Gratz blow assignments during the first quarter of a game.  There are other factors contributing to the poor performance on D.

Get outta here, way to cherry pick a play where Peyton through it directly to him. He's never been good in coverage, I'm not sure why some of you try to defend him, he is what he is, a good two down linebacker that struggles when he's asked to defend tightends and RB's, your agenda is pathetic.

So I provide you an example which shows him demonstrating exactly what you say he is lacking and I'm cherry picking? Sounds more like you're back pedaling. Pedal on.

There's a reason why QB's have consistent success attacking the middle of the field against the Jaguars, we don't have linebackers that cover well, but don't tell that to Knarnn as he's illustrated that's not the case with this Poz pick 6.

How are you not cherry picking? You chose one play to attempt to prove your already misguided point, if you think Paul Posluszny is good in pass coverage there's no point in arguing with you, you obvioulsy have no idea of what you're talking about.

Good point...we get slaughtered with those short passes across the middle.  It's been that way for the past four years.

We get slaughtered with passes across the middle because we don't have an Mike linebacker that's good in coverage.

Feel free to post your own gif of Poz getting best like a drum. He cited coverage ability, speed, and change of direction. That particular gif demonstrates Poz showing his skills of all three.

So my words aren't misconstrued I'll place this in bold.

I understand Poz isn't Bobby Wagner or Patrick Willis or the second coming of Brian Urlacher but he isn't the weak link in the defense either.

I never said he was the
weak link, because he's one of many
weak links on the Jaguars defense. He's a good two down linebacker that struggles in coverage; he's always been a liability in coverage dating back to his days in Buffalo. Your Gif proves that if he's watching the QB eyes while sitting in zone he can make a play on the ball if it's thrown directly at him, I would hope most human beings (let alone professional football players) make that play.  When asked to man-up against a TE or RB he struggles, you claim to understand that Poz isn't Bobby Wagner or Patrick Willis, the problem is the Jaguars are paying him to be that guy, and it's clear he's not.

Quote:So you actually expect a linebacker to match up well against Reggie Wayne?
Reggie Wayne is 50 and slow at this point. Poz was plenty of feet behind him on crossing routes he should've stopped. All I saw was him falling on the ground tackling nothing.

Another donkey of Sunday is the mascot. Time to rid the team of that crap; it's a joke to have that thing running around the field all game.
