Fun fact: Bortles vs. Gabbert

#21

Blake Bortles is a 100% times David Garrard, and Blake was drafted to be the franchis starter where as David was always considered a backup only until after several injuries Byron had they had to go with David.  The fact that no team wanted David, unlike Byron whom was picked up by two teams and went to the SB with the Steelers shows how bad David was but he could move around in and out of the pocket so they kept him.  I would take a DG over Blaine Gabbert & Chad Henne, and Chris Clemons, Q but thats about it.  He wasnt better than a healthy Byron Leftwich (sure his wind up and lack of mobility made him blow but prior to his college injury he was still 100 x better than a healthy DG in his prime).

I really feel that the team has had only two great potential QBs in the teams franchise history; Mark Brunell 84 rating avg, and Blake Bortles (first game only half 85 qb rating)... but I think Bortles has the potential (especially if they can get more talent surrounding him especially at HB) that he he can be a future HOF type QB... the hope is there... lets watch it become a realtity over this decade!

Quote:The better question to ask if if Gabby ever had a 3 TD month? How many?
Quite a few. He had back-to-back 2 TD games. He had plenty of strings of 1 TD games. September 2012 was a 5 TD month, as was December 2011. October 2011 was a 4 TD month.

All of which shows that even QBs who suck and fail to develop can have 4-5 TD months. Wink

Quote:There is something I thought about during the game that nobody else mentioned yet: Unlike David Garrard, Blake's first pass was not intercepted. Of course thvat does not mean he is better right now than David, but it is a good little fact to know about Bortles.

that might be the most meaningless fact i have ever heard.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Bortles ain't no Jimmy Garrapollo doe. Jimmy doesn't even need the Gabbert locks to make the ladies swoon

I know I want to see beautiful offense by the Jags.

Every throw down the field for Blaine looked like a massive struggle. It's been a long time since I could watch a Jaguars QB put the ball up and not immediately dismiss it as incomplete before I even see where it's headed.

Was that Sept 2012 5 TD month Gabby's career high for a month?

BB is almost half way there, in just a half of football.

It's unlikely he will have 3 TDs against the Chargers on Sunday to hit 5 for the month because that's the only game left in Sept. but 2 is quite possible though to make it 4 for the month.

I will keep track to see if he can get to more than 5TDs in a month.

It's almost a lock the way he throws the ball down field isn't it.

Tied with the December 2011 one, yes. For a calendar month in the regular season, anyway (and probably for any 30-day consecutive period in the regular season).

Bear in mind that he threw three passes that went for touchdowns in one half of football. Wink

Even referring to he who shall not be named should be a bannable offense ... Except if we get that conditional pick. Outside of that, I'm trying to erase him from my memory

After that first half with Chad Henne yesterday, I was ready for us to make a deal and get Gabbert back from San Francisco. I'm grateful I will never have that impulse to remember him again going forward.

Whats funny is the 301 yard game by Gabbert was supposed vindication for his loyalists. It was the only time he broke 300 and he did it by 1 yard.

David had back problems. I liked him enough.

Why worry about how many touchdown passes Blake throws in a month that he only plays 6 quarters? Wait until October, when he plays all 16 quarters.
