Fun fact: Bortles vs. Gabbert

#1

Bortles had more passing yards in his first half (222) than Gabbert had in any single game his rookie season (his high was 221). Gabbert also never rushed for more than 19 yards. Bortles had 30 today.

Yea, and Henne was doing his best impression of Gabbert these first two and a half games. So glad all that is over now.

What was Gabbert's high game for yardage? I believe it was a shade over 300 against the Packers 2 years ago....anyone else remember that one?

On the bright side, in about 13 games Bortles should push Gabbert even further down the all time standings for Jag QBs.

Bortles passed Todd Bouman in yardage in his first game. Bortles jumped from tied for 22nd in yards, to 15th. We can reasonably expect him to jump to 11th by the next game or two. He needs 196 yards next week to make that happen.

He's also tied for 10th for most passing TD's by a Jag QB. He needs just 11 to pass Quinn Gray and rank 6th. It's unlikely he passes Gabbert in touchdowns this year, he needs 20 more. It's not impossible, but not very likely. Still I'd love to see it happen. He needs just 1.5 TD's per game.

On the other hand he only needs 1029 yards to pass Quinn Gray's yardage. Average of 79 yards per game, which if he can't do then we're in trouble. Passing Gabbert is unlikely, because Gabbs has 4357 yards. That'd be 318 yards per game. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see him pass Henne and Gabbert next year -

- Assuming he stays healthy all this season and next he needs just 142 yards per game to pass Gabbert, and 200 yards per game to pass Henne.

He can also pass Henne this year in TD's, but he'd need 1.9 TD's per game, so I wouldn't count on it. But I think we could see it happen next year easily.

To pass Henne's yardage for this year, he needs 269 yards. I'm not expecting it to happen next week, but it's also not impossible. Henne had 10 quarters. I think Bortles passes it in 7 or 8.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Agreed, you either can play QB or you cant sitting on the bench doesnt do a QB any good... but not having a horrible Oline and no receivers will not help Bortles stats or his health...

the Jaguars front office needs to think of a way to protect him fast..

Appreciate the breakdown of all that wibbly wobbly stuff Doctor.

I am confident Bortles can finish the year with 20TDs and 3000 yards.

I don't think so, but I don't think there's much reason to dwell on the depressing past of Gabbert now that the team has finally stepped into a truly new era.

It's not like Bortles has very high hurdles to clear. Comparing him to epic badness proves nothing.

I just like the fact the receiving corps will grow with the QB.

Yeah but Bortles still hasn't run out of bounds and yelled," Whoa mother******," at someone yet like Gabbs did

The better question to ask if if Gabby ever had a 3 TD month? How many?

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

There is something I thought about during the game that nobody else mentioned yet: Unlike David Garrard, Blake's first pass was not intercepted. Of course thvat does not mean he is better right now than David, but it is a good little fact to know about Bortles.
