It's amazing - people will want a few meaningless wins that will likely mean a 2nd tier QB and ANOTHER 10 years of mediocrity instead of getting the 1st pick in the draft and likely - although not guaranteed - a true franchise QB.

While I understand the "Lose now so you can win more later" argument, there's no way, as a competitor, I can buy into it.

 

Losing now ALWAYS - repeat - ALWAYS sucks.  The Pats didn't go 1-15, get Tom Brady, and suddenly become successful.  The Steelers and Packers found their missing piece despite a lack of really bad seasons.  Arizona, Carolina, and Seattle didn't have to win the "QB X" sweepstakes to make SB appearances.  But all that is despite my main point.

 

Find me a coach that would accept 0-16 with a shrug and a fist-pump that he's picking first, and I'll show you a guy headed for the unemployment line.

Dude, the Niners went 2-14 to bottom out and then get Joe Montana and then win for 15 years, the Cowboys went 1-15 before winning 3 of 4 SB's starting 3 years later, and yes, the Patriots did bottom out before getting brady, it may not have been the immmediate season before, but prior to kraft getting that team they were in a horrible ebb period like we have been in, and then then in a few years they started their dominance that they currently reside in........please, just stop....

 

Nobody likes to lose. But bottoming out is sometimes necessary to reach the golden heights.
