The next Florida coach

Quote:What? Nothing I have said is ground breaking and others agree.... soIm more referring to UF being a top job which you've not agreed with. And I provided some info that refutes that thought as well.

Florida is still a top 3 job despite how they've faired recently. The money, facilities/resources, location, and recruiting base alone make it a top 3 job.
The "top job" rankings are a little pointless imo. It's one of the best jobs in the country, not disputing that. What does that mean? All it means is that guys will want to go there if they are making a step up in their coaching career.
There are several other schools just in the SEC that have comparable facilities, salary, recruiting power. Not to mention the Pac-12 Schools like Oregon and USC. Then you have Big 10 powers like Ohio State. Also, OU and Texas are top notch programs. IMO any coaching moving from one of those schools to the other are lateral moves.
Before worrying about who should replace Will Muschamp, I want to see more names of coaches at risk of losing their jobs. So far all I ever read about are Brady Hoke of Michigan and Muschamp, but with 120 FBS schools there must be a few others on the hot seat. Also, have any coaches expressed interest in working somewhere else in 2015? I only follow two NCAA teams and don't know anything about most of the others, so forgive me if I seem a little ignorant here.
Of course, we also have to consider the NFL coaches who probably will be fired on Black Monday, all Raiders assistant coaches, and Dennis Allen because they need to find new jobs. Not saying they should all be head coach candidates, but maybe one could be a good assistant at the college level. Quote:The "top job" rankings are a little pointless imo. I think a lot of it has to do with Florida's history and the state of Florida being a recruiting hot bed. There's about 20 schools that are top jobs. Then, how many of those schools have HC openings, ya know? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

just for the record, Oklahoma just lost to unranked WVU today.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
wont let me edit anything. i meant kansas state who is ranked 14.
WVU beat # 4 baylor. again, oklahoma has no shot at national title contention, which is why it would make sense for stoops to make a move to florida, where he could recruit better players and contend for a title again. same thing for briles, i know these guys "have it made" but anyone with a competitive spirit wants to win the national chamionship and it isnt going to happen at baylor or OK

Has a head coach ever been fired in the 2nd half of a football game?

I guess Gabbert and Sam are happy right now.

What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
The thing that sucks about the latest game is that I see so many people saying he's definitely gone, and I still don't buy it until it's announced. I think what should happen is by monday, he be fired and then either Roper or Durkin take over through the end of the season. It's already lost. GA is going to run for 300+ yards on us.

Quote:Florida getting blown out. Time for a HC change. Not so fast. Whenever any team is blown out like that, the coach is one of many problems. I assume Muschamp's job is safe until after the FSU game unless Florida's AD, who previously said he will evaluate Muschamp after the season, announces he has changed his mind. Wow didn't realize gator fans were so much like ut fans.....
Those articles ranking top jobs should be thrown out the window in today's college football coaching. Fact is, most coaches know that if they go to an "elite" school... And yes gator fans ou is one of those schools, ...that means they will most likely have access to top tier facilities, I have seen all the facilities in the old big 12, and texas, ou, a&m, and now Oklahoma state are all top end. It also means they will have access to a top recruiting base.... With that means heavy compitition in the area, these states are texas, and ou has dominated the Dallas / east texas area for many years, Florida , and California And finally that their is some type of tradition at the school, a history of winning. And sorry gator fans Florida's three recent nc s don't put a dent into ou s seven banners. Fact is a few as in 10 to 15 have all three and ou and uf are 2. But there is one thing that you have to consider in today's coaching... And that is realistically coaches now a days at one of these schools have about 2 years to prove with their product on the field that they are worth a grain of salt. Stoops has been at ou for 14 plus years now, this is not a concern of his, and all these bogus arguments that he could go play in the sec does nothing but hurt your chances and make less sense for him to even consider a return to uf. I mean think about it... Why do you think Meyer left to go dominate the weak big 10 instead of stressing in the sec where he is unlikely to have success year in and year out just due to sheer compitition, and don't say money... Because all that TV money doesn't go to the coaches pockets, they still get paid like kings elsewhere. Why would stoops jeopardize his certain job security and legendary status in Norman for a school that may fire him In 2-3 years? It makes no sense to even consider such a move at a school where he will still compete for a playoff spot with just one loss that he has built himself. What I am saying is that top coaching spots now a days are more situational than those rankings indicate. You can get all the things mentioned in those articles at any of these top schools, but with a life span of 2-3 years coaches need to be smarter about what fit is really best for them. Right now IMO, and I think this is the opinion of many college football fans and experts, as well as coaches. Florida is a school with all the resources but perhaps lacking talent at a few key positions on o when compared to the elites of the sec. Specifically WR- have athleticism but no size or gamebreakers... O line- seriously what the hell? They are all seniors and that's what they put on film? And qb- enough said. I think maybe they could pull off a spread offense, although they need an O line and some receivers, but that may take a few years recruiting.... And given the overall talent of the league, that may be two years that puts him squarely on the hot seat. Not a good Situation and one that needs to be considered when choosing between two elite schools... Meyer did it... Saban did it.... And if uf wants a proven college coach at an elite school they will have that going against them. And gator fans should remember your two most successful coaches didn't come from high end schools or nfl teams like texas, USC, Oklahoma, Ohio state, Alabama, auburn etc... No they came from duke... Fire Muschamp? Are you guys crazy? He will turn it around. He just needs more time...
Quote:TLDR version plz. Fans of all football teams hate losing and think firing the coach is the easiest fix.
