I really think anybody could have coached the Jags to 5-18 over the last 2 seasons.

 

I would wager Mike Mularkey couldn't. Because he was a terrible HC. I would also wager that Andy Reid wouldn't have done much better, if any better at all.

I stand corrected. I had the scenario backwards. Atlanta's defense was the one that choked up the big lead. Mike Smith sucks too, so not surprising. 

 

But Bradley's D still was lousy that day giving up 28 points and over 400 yards of offense. 

 

as well as couldn't hold a late lead.

Stupid thing to complain about.

Gus is different, so comparing him to anyone is pointless. I'm not saying different is better, but he's different in how positive he is.


Ultimately, it will come down to wins and losses, like it always does.


I want Gus to be himself and not try to impress anyone but his players and coaching staff.

Win or lose, we are doing this Gus' way. He wl get a chance to show that he can lead this team to success.

Bradly is doing the best with what we have. I'm not ready to usher off a 2nd year coach, we've shown improvement in areas that where lacking while still using the same players, to me that improvement is a testament to coaching. 

 

There's plenty of things Bradly's done that he can rightfully be criticized, being "over excited" about ending a long and hard losing streak isn't one of them. The guys enthusiastic so what, I like that he's willing to make changes to the lineup to find the best possible starting roster. Had we stuck with Henne, Gerhart, Winston, Gratz and so on I'd have issues, but those guys didn't get done and we put the next guy in, that is leadership.

Did he ever, at any time, have 7 rookies playing on offense? Has ANYONE ever had 7 rookies playing on offense? You don't just plug these guys in and expect them to play like veterans. I don't know how else to put it.. They had, what, 2 weeks of training camp? And a week of OTAs? Then the season started.

When through seven games you've had a position change at all of the following:

 

QB, RB, RG, C, RT, DB, FS because the guys filling those roles did not perform, that's on the GM not bringing in the talent to field a starting lineup.

 

Add to that you have rookies starting all over the place for various reasons you're going to have a steep learning curve, I don't blame Gus for having so many rookies on the roster at once, that was by design.

I can see how he was excited and proud of his team. The D play lights out. As for the original poster. I understand where you are coming from. 1-6. I wouldn't jump around the locker room for that. I would tell the men good job today, and they need to keep that intensity. If they do who knows, maybe the playoffs aren't a dream this season.


NFL coaches expect those performances. Bradley just geeked out. I can see why this thread was made. Bradley needs to keep it going then I'll jump with him.

Why does Bradley act like he won the Super Bowl in his post-game speech?

 

I've never seen Carroll, Harbaugh, Coughlin, McCarthy, Payton, Tomlin, Dungy, Cowher, Belichick, Jimbo Fisher, Saban, etc. act like that.

 

This team needs a head coach, not a cheerleader.  He doesn't exhibit the ability to lead.  The team is 1-6, sure, enjoy your first win, but not like you just hoisted the Lombardi.

 

Man the Jags are in trouble.

 

I like Gus. He's involved with the players. The team is just young. It takes time for them to all gel and come together. He was fired up.

I need to preface what I'm about to say by first explaining that I cannot stand Collin Cowherd.  

 

The guy is a bloviating narcissist that speaks mainly straight out of his own over-priveledged and clearly hyper-entitled shallow concept of a reality that exists nowhere but in his mind.

 

However, he mentioned something that got me thinking.  In today's NFL, you need a coaches that can out think and out game plan you.  The rah rah coaches can only take a team so far.  An example...  Mike Tomlin of the squeelers...  He seems like a players coach, a coach that brings 100% intensity, but relies on others to figure out how best to strategize and create a game plan.  

 

While that type of coach is great when you have a hot team with alot of talent on it.  But it just doesn't get the job done when your talent isn't elite in key areas anymore.

 

I fear this is how our coaches are...  

 

I will say, I give much credit to Babich this week.  His game plan was far more aggressive and helped protect our secondary.  

 

Fish just seems a bit out of his element.  It just seems like his concepts change from drive to drive.  There's no cohesion to his game plan.

 

And I honestly don't think of Bradley as offensive or defensive mastermind.  I could be wrong, but I just don't see it.

 

And in the modern NFL that we live in now, you need that type of coach.  The Mike Ditka type coaches aren't gonna get things done.

Their defense improved after Gus left and they won 3 straight playoff games giving them a SB title.


Their defense when Gus was there the last year blew a giant lead in their only playoff win that season and had to be bailed out by a last drive score.

Well, you're the one who hates Babich. Who else do you attribute holding our last 3 opponents well below their seasob averages to?

its been a long hard road and a victory is something that should be celebrated no matter what.

if you have passion for the game, whether youre playing for 10 years or youre a rookie, winning is a great feeling.

No offense to anyone here but someone needs to take their meds because I see the same poster over & over again. Always someone who thinks exactly the same way as TMD, which seems to always bolster his opinion. TMD has always hated Bradley (see Chip Kelly comments). He needs some validation from other members (real or not). It's getting quite old.


As a fellow business owner, I've always respected you Chief but you seem to have become somewhat jaded recently. Losing can do that, I get it. Recently, however, it's turned to downright negative comments and a sense of gloom & doom. No one is blowing sunshine up anyone's butt, but don't you have to wait before making comments like that. It's not like we control any of this.


If you can't enjoy the ride, what's the point of the journey?
