Gus Bradley on special teams: "There were some positives out there"
|
Quote:He always says he's "challenging" people or groups of people. What does this even mean? He just yells at them? That was good. I guess challenging works better than double dog daring them. Quote:At this point in the season, about the only thing to look forward to is to see if the Jags can maintain their stronghold on that #1 pick in the draft. If we get the first pick it probably will result in trading Joeckel for two 6th rounders. And draft another left tackle.

I watched the presser, and he was extremely critical of the team, particularly the offense today. Just because he's critical doesn't mean he has to go in with fire and brimstone, but he's not ignoring the flaws. Even with special teams, his point was pretty clear. There was improvement in one aspect, team speed. They are playing faster on kick coverage than they have since San Diego. That's what he pointed out as the positive. Let's not overplay what he was saying. He was asked about positives, and that's all he could muster for special teams.
He was critical of the offense yesterday in his post game, and again today. He also gave praise where warranted, particularly with the defense. He spent the bulk of both pressers talking about the frustrations of the offensive struggles. He spent all of about 15 seconds talking about special teams. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:He spent all of about 15 seconds talking about special teams. After two blocked punts, (now) four blocked FGs, and a runback for a TD that was only called back because of an obscure penalty that had no effect on the return, he didn't think ST was worth more than 15 seconds? Pathetic "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:He never said we improved.^ Paul bradley apologist. Quote:After two blocked punts, (now) four blocked FGs, and a runback for a TD that was only called back because of an obscure penalty that had no effect on the return, he didn't think ST was worth more than 15 seconds? He was asked a specific question about the positives including special teams. The best he could muster was improved team speed. He wasn't asked to issue an epic dialog on the issues with special teams. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

He wasn't asked to issue an epic dialog on the issues with special teams. Positives? Positives? Who asked the question? Has the Jags press corps become as bad as the national press corps when it comes to failure to ask questions about obvious mistakes by the current leadership? "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Thanks for posting this topic. I almost fell out of my chair today when I heard that on the press conference.

I dont think he was asked about positives. Gus has a tendency to start his press conferences by pointing out the positives. He's done it since he got here.

The only "positive" thing to talk about is the offseason and the NFL draft. This season is a wash, and unless there are some major changes made to the coaching staff 2015 is a waste as well...

Most people here actually carry pretty logical conversations and for the most part passionately care about this team! You're feeding a troll. He made an account yesterday, and he comes here to tell us we are stupid for questioning Gus and Co. Oh yeah, he said Alualu is playing lights out! ![]()
Did he put some blame on coaching?
When he sees positives, he looks at it like.... HIV positive Your pregnancy test is positive. ( to a 9 th grader) Are you sure you want a divorce? I'm positive Obama sending in positive reinforcements. It's all relative.
Blakes Life Matters
Now that I think about it, its even more depressing how Bradley has to hide his frustration behind that smile and upbeat attitude. If I was a reporter, I'd just hate to ask him another question, just to save him the effort of squirming out an optimistic response.
Quote:He was asked a specific question about the positives including special teams. The best he could muster was improved team speed. He wasn't asked to issue an epic dialog on the issues with special teams. Actually it was just "team speed on kick-off duties." "We're getting down there quicker." That's the only thing he cited as a positive for ST. That's pretty bad. Of course - that means he's praising the ST now after another tipped kick. LOL. This thread is pointless. What I would like to see is accountability amongst the coaching staff. How in the heck does the ST coach still have a job??

It would be positive if we were confident in our GM...but we are not sure! Quote:What I would like to see is accountability amongst the coaching staff. How in the heck does the ST coach still have a job?? because firing a co ordinator halfway through a season rarely has any effect and certainly is not the way to create stability for a bunch of rookies and journeymmen If he is going to be canned it will be at the end of a season i think people are going to be dissapointed And mallory is the only realistic casualty this season Fisch is tied to bortles And i don't think they would want a second scheme when they have hardly implemented the first. Babich is the next most likely casualty in my book with Bradley calling plays you have to wonder what effect babich is having but the d is doing well at the mo so it seems unlikely |
