Gus is figuring things out week to week, like the rest of the coaches. They don't know what the hell they're doing.

Quote:Lol del rio motivated nobody. He developed nobody. Seriously, did anyone progress under him? I hear ya... But... Del rio had us fighting for playoff spots with gene smith players that have been established as such hot garbage that most are not in the league. His team's talent was so bad that the new regime needed to get rid of almost everyone del rio had competing.
Quote:This is not true - at all. That should tell you what you need to know about team defense and offense rankings. It's clear to everyone that the Defense is the strength of this team, though there's no denying there are still holes there to be filled. The lack of quality QB play which leads to turnovers and 3 and outs is also putting the D in bad situations. When the QB play gets better, the Defense ranking will actually get better as well. Yes, yards allowed is a totally inaccurate way to measure defensive ability. Maybe we should look at points allowed (dead *** last). The only positive stat on defense we have is sacks. The defense may be the strength of the team, but the team is the scrawny kid that can't lift 10 pounds. Being the strength of a team like ours isn't really a compliment. Oh yay...we don't suck as bad as the rest of the team! One of these years.............

Quote:Lol del rio motivated nobody. He developed nobody. Seriously, did anyone progress under him? It's mainly the assistant coaches who develop and motivate players, but the HC chooses the assistants. Here are some players who developed under Del Rio: Pro Bowl quality: Rashean Mathis Vince Manuwai Daryl Smith Significant improvement while a Jag: Byron Leftwich David Garrard Uche Nwaneri Jeremy Mincey Josh Scobee Bobby McCray Paul Spicer Mike Sims-Walker Greg Jones Some improvement: Reggie Williams Matt Jones Marcedes Lewis Deon Grant Mike Peterson Brad Meester Adam Podlesh MJD Ernest Wilford Young players who declined: Khalif Barnes Reggie Nelson "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" Quote:It's mainly the assistant coaches who develop and motivate players, but the HC chooses the assistants. MJD should be under pro bowler ![]()
Quote:MJD should be under pro bowler I considered that. He was very good from the start, so he didn't improve that much. I was trying to give Oface the benefit of the doubt on the listings. But that was moving him to fb to block for the best rb tandem in the league. Leftwich certainly did not get better under del rio. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LeftBy00::pass_rating/gamelog?mobile=false 3 of his 5 best games came his rookie year. He's wildly inconsistent the rest of his career. Thanks Jack. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I fire Jedd Fisch long before I fire Gus Bradley. A better offensive gameplan could go a long way for a team that has such strong defense despite our losing record
Quote:I fire Jedd Fisch long before I fire Gus Bradley. A better offensive gameplan could go a long way for a team that has such strong defense despite our losing record You guys are just blind if you can't see that 90% of our problems on offense are due to poor offensive line play. Quote:You guys are just blind if you can't see that 90% of our problems on offense are due to poor offensive line play.Poor WR play too, no one got open on Sunday. Blake consistently had nowhere to go with the ball. Our gameplan doesn't create space for our playmakers or use them to their strengths. Austin Pasztor is our only lineman that is still performing as poorly as the rest of the line did earlier this year. Everyone else has improved, however Fisch continually called runs on first and second down, didn't let Blake get into a rhythm, and put him in constant 3rd and longs when the other team obviously blitzes and the rookie has no time to think. That is not how you get a rookie QB comfortable in a game. Calling screens and dinky swing routes ONLY just because the kid threw an interception is not how you calm him down, if anything that makes him more agitated/lose more confidence because him throwing a pick means he isn't allowed to look downfield anymore. I know the turnovers have been rough but hiding Blake in a shell is the surest way for us to score only 3 points and lose. It's not college. You don't win in the NFL off of gimmicky misdirection plays and throwing 3 yard passes and hoping for the defense to allow yards after the catch. He's literally coaching like it's the NCAA and like defenses are giving up holes all over the place. That is not the case in the NFL, you throw short passes all game those guys are GOOD at press coverage and they won't let you get a damn first down without challenging them downfield sometimes.

Two of those three games were mop up roles before he became a starter (and two of the other three were mop up's for Pittsburgh). His passer rating went from 73 to 82 to 89 in his first three years, and was improving in year 3 until his injury. He was never the same after his injury in 2005, but that's hardly a failure in development. Your blanket disagreement says nothing. Don't you think Mathis improved? Mincey? Spicer? Garrard was terrible when JDR took over. One might argue that Reggie and Mattloaf were failures, but (again) it was not failure in development. They both had improved significantly before they were kicked off the team. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" Don't give me that crap.
Quote:Garrard was Garrard was Garrard. Don't give me that crap.Garrard improved significantly between 2006 and 2007 when position coach Shula worked with him. Is it that you don't agree, or don't remember? Also, if Del Rio was such an unpleasant person, why did Terrance Knighton, who performed so well on the Jags, jump at the chance to go to Denver and work for Jack again? On topic- Bortles is playing terribly, and Henne is, surprisingly, a worse option. I can't put that all on Gus's head. The team has made a commitment to Blake, and we have to just take it until he gets better. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Under Del Rio, the defense regressed from 2008 until he was fired. It didn't get any better under Mularkey. Though it's not translating into wins, the Jags defense is obviously playing much better under Bradley. If someone has to go, the obvious choice is the OC. Our defense spends so much time on the field due to offensive ineptitude that it's stats are being skewed. |
