Timetable on OC Hire

Quote:I keep seeing updates on all of the other coaching searches, but not one thing on the jags. I guess I'm being impatient, but I would like to hear at least who they are looking at.
Yea I just saw that Roman interviewed with the Bucs for their OC job, but havent seen anything about us interviewing anybody

One thing I've learned with Caldwell is you'll never know until you need to. Countless people could've been contacted already but we'll never know

I hope they are not leaving the decision up to Bradley.

I think the Jags are targeting someone on a playoff team.

Could be Scott Linehan, since he is just the passing game coordinator in dallas. I'm not sure though, but I haven't heard of any updates so I figure that's what it is. Someone on the board mentioned Edgar Bennett from Green Bay. Whoever it is will get full control of the offense, including de chiding who is on the offensive coaching staff. That could attract a good candidate

Interesting.  What about Colts quarterback coach Clyde Christensen?  Been with the Colts since 2002 and has been WR coach, QB coach, OC, and Assistant head coach for them.

Do you think it could be someone on Seattle's staff?

All I want is someone that's good with QB's and throws the ball down field (even though Blake is embarrassingly inacurate).

Give him an O-line that allows him more than three seconds to get a pass off, and I think you'll see his accuracy dramatically increase.

When he had his improved mechanics in the preseason, he threw a beautiful deep ball. Hope he can get those mechanics under control again

Had he been given adequate time for the work he did prior to taking over as the starter to "take", this wouldn't be a concern.  The muscle memory will eventually kick in with enough repetitions.  However, any drastic changes to his mechanics, which shouldn't be required honestly, may be issues he'll simply have to learn to play through during his career.  Some guys have quirks that they simply can't unlearn.

In the end, we saw progress from Bortles and his issues.  He regressed during the season because he wasn't able to focus on the mechanics once he was the starter.  That will change this off season.  I fully expect to see him return looking much differently from what we saw at the end of the season.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Maybe.  I tend to think they're simply going to play things close to the vest to assure they don't lose out on the guy they really want.

He was terrible as Bucs OC and only served as Colts OC for 1 year since 2002. There's a reason he's been a position coach all those years in Indy.  Pass.

Agreed. I wish Chad Henne didn't force the teams hand so quickly. However, I feel the experience from this past season will help him more than hurt him. He has 12.5 games to study, and he has 6 months to get healthy and get those mechanics under control. Nothing I've read or heard tells me that he won't do everything possible to come back in training camp with the revamped mechanics.

why would anyone make a move from a playoff OC to the OC of the Jaguars? Unless you're talking about promoting a position coach which I don't see happening.
