Coach and GM change tracker

Quote:FBT, serious question: do you think Fox would resign, retire or otherwise be forced out if both coordinators and Manning left? Or has he earned the right to lead the inevitable rebuild?

Jason Garrett is going to be a very wealthy man, because he'll get a huge offer from some other team and make Jerry Jones match it.

If Jerry Jones was serious about keeping Jason Garrett, he would already have a new contract.

Quote:Jason Garrett isn’t the only coaching free agent in Dallas.  Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has completed his contract, too.  And he soon could be leaving.

So the Cowboys are not giving Garrett a contract extension when they finally won a playoff game?

My guess is Jason Garrett will get a new contract with the Cowboys.   But it's likely that at least one key coach ( Rod Marinelli )  will be moving on.

The Raiders apparently have some interest in Scott Linehan as their next HC.    It's possible that the Cowboys will lose their top 2 Assistant Coaches.

So the Raiders talk to MIke Shanahan for five hours, then decide to add a name to their long candidate list? It would make more sense to hire Shanahan.

Maybe there's a better fit on the long list of candidates than Mike Shanahan.   Hence,  why not interview many candidates that might fit the key criteria you are looking for.

It is definitely an interesting job to watch. I have not read anything about what happened during JDR's interview with the Raiders.

Bender, you obviously misunderstood my post. I was just wondering why the Raiders would become very interested in Scott Linehan because Mike Shanahan is a better coach and they already talked to him.

Maybe the Raiders think that Scott Linehan could be a better coach for their team than Mike Shanahan is. Did that ever occur to you?

Hope the Raiders don't hire Linehan, because I want him as our OC.

Anyway Table Time!  (may have missed some)

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

They couldn't mention enough times last night that Del Rio is the top candidate for the Raiders job.  It wouldn't surprise me to hear that announcement coming down the pipeline this week.  It would be even less surprising to see him bring back a lot of his former staff to run things since many of them are available and seeking employment currently.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

They just lined up a second interview with him.

Which is a sure bet he's their guy and an offer is pending.

It is possible he is not the only guy getting a second interview with the Raiders.

I love that table. Did you create that or find it on a website?

However, it is incomplete. Dick LeBeau just resigned, which means there is a vacancy at defensive coordinator in Pittsburgh. There also are rumors swirling about John Fox.

What happened to the Rams offensive coordinator?

The Jets are getting ready to name Texans college scouting director Mike Maccagnan their GM.

Ignore the part about Gary Kubiak being a head coach candidate. He decided to stay in Baltimore.

Not necessarily.  Rob Chudzinski got a second interview with the Jags, before they ultimately went with Mularkey.

I created the table.  Forgot about Dick LeBeau.  Schottenheimer left the Rams.  He'll now be the OC for the Georgia Bulldogs.

More on JDR: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...ck-del-rio

The coach tracker article does not list all interviews. Now that Rex Ryan has a job, he is no longer on Atlanta's interview list.

BREAKING NEWS: John Fox and the Broncos "part ways." It is unclear why he quit, but this could mean Adam Gase gets promoted in Denver instead of a head coach job elsewhere.

Quote:Fox is now free to interview with the 49ersBearsBillsFalcons and Raiders for their own vacancies.

Now it is time to start thinking about how this will affect the coach searches for five other teams. Will they try to hire Adam Gase ASAP to prevent him from getting an in-house promotion? Will Gase say he wants to stay in Denver now that he is a candidate to replace John Fox? This could get very interesting because all six teams that had head coach vacancies interviewed him.
