2015 Free Agents - Who Do You Want?

Quote:I've been a Lions fan since 1970. Yeah, theirs a line I heard once "You gotta respect good," and he is good. He's the type of player every single team would love to have. He's a quality person and player, which is a great combo. So, with you on this site, are you a Jaguars fan second or just a fan looking to observe other teams? Clay or Cameron Rahim Moore (best available FS) Wisniewski or Hudson Orlando Franklin I think that with Julius Thomas probable to hit the market, we may make a play on him. Do you think that nobody out of Gipson, McCourty or Searcy will be available? I hope. Seems like some sources claim he is pleased with Bowanko. YES PLEASE(If RT is the plan, possibly even LT though he is unproven there) Quote:Yeah, theirs a line I heard once "You gotta respect good," and he is good. So, with you on this site, are you a Jaguars fan second or just a fan looking to observe other teams? Well said regarding your thoughts about Calvin Johnson. As a pro football fan, I was very impressed with the great support that the Jacksonville Bulls received in the USFL. I thought the Jacksonville Bulls had the best fan base in that league. As a result, I was very happy to see Jacksonville get an NFL expansion team. I watched many Jaguars games in their first few seasons and really enjoyed seeing how well the team came together as an expansion franchise. Because of all of this and a couple of people I met on another NFL related site on the Internet in the 2000 through 2002 period, one of those people asked me to join the Jaguars Forum which was the current version of this MB. While for me I can only have one favorite team, I wish the Jaguars and of course the fan base well, with the hope that the Jaguars remain in Jacksonville for the long haul. Being that the Jaguars are in the AFC, being on this MB provides me with a great opportunity to follow the AFC more closely than I probably would beyond watching games. Along with PFT, this MB is where I usually get most of my information about the Jaguars and other AFC South teams. Not to mention, excellent draft related information.
Very well stated. It is certainly nice when fans of other teams try to contribute to another team's site.
I like to try to get as much information as I can on different teams and players. As you are a Lions fan first, you probably know more about the Lions players than us as outsiders just reading what we can find on the internet and maybe catching a game or two through the season. I assume you watch most of the Lions games and thus would be better informed. I'm curios about 2 things involving the Lions. 1.Is the Nick Fairley talk overblown or is it really noticeable? What I mean is on most internet sources you see most people comment on him giving up on a lot of plays and he seems disinterested almost all the time. Is this over-dramatized, or does he really show a consistent lack of effort? 2.Besides the big names in Suh and Fairley, are their any Lions players that you think are worth maybe being signed in Free Agency that get overlooked because of Suh and Fairley?
Quote:Well said regarding your thoughts about Calvin Johnson.I usually don't have very much tolerance for other teams fans, but I certainly like you. I love your insights into all things NFL and I appreciate that you think this city deserves the Jags. If the day ever comes where the Jags and the Lions ever play in a Super Bowl and the Lions win.... I really couldn't be that mad knowing how long the true Lions fans such as yourself (and my aunt) have waited for that day to come.

Another FS that will be on the Free Agent market is
Steve Brown - FS - Giants - 28 (in 2015) - 5'11" 215 lbs His breakout year was 2012 with the Giants where he had 76 TT - 8 Ints and 11 PD Then in 2013 he tore his ACL and the following year (2014) was a down year with 38 TT - 0 Ints and 1 PD He was benched for his poor play. Now if there is any truth that the 2nd year after the ACL, the player fully returns to health, then perhaps Steve Brown should be considered by the Jags to fill the FS position. Anyone who agrees with me about Herman Moore and Jake Reed is A-OK in my book...as long as said person isn't a tack fan.

Thank you very much, Eye of the Storm, Tim, and Bizzaro goes Bankai! Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Eye of the Storm, if the Jaguars and Lions do end up in the Super Bowl, I truly hope that the game isn't influenced heavily by a poor officiating decision. If the Jaguars end up beating the Lions in a Super Bowl, while I would be disappointed as a Lions fan, I would be happy for each of you and countless others that I have gotten to know on the MB over the years. I'm glad that you joined the MB, as your takes have certainly added greatly to the discussions. Tim, it was a pleasure meeting you. I have looked forward to your excellent analysis of Jaguars practices and your overall take on the Jaguars and the NFL for many, many years. The efforts you do behind the scenes are also appreciated. Bizzaro goes Bankai, I think back to the 1995 Thanksgiving Day game in which the Lions won in a shootout over the Vikings. In that game, the excellent receiving skills of Herman Moore and Jake Reed were on display. It felt like the opposing Defenses had no answers for the Offenses most of that afternoon. Watching now HOFer Warren Moon was also a treat from a pure football fan standpoint. Though it was difficult as a Lions fan to see him carve up the Lions Defense. It's great to see others like yourself who appreciate the history of the NFL.
Regarding the 2015 FA's, Nick Fairley's value on the open market likely improved today as a result of a jury in Alabama finding him not Guilty on a DUI charge. Fairley was found Guilty for reckless driving. My guess is Fairley won't be suspended by the NFL. If he is suspended, I'll be surprised if it's for more than one game. Since the 2012 off-season, Fairley has stayed out of trouble.

Apparently, Jerry Hughes - DE - Bills will test the Free Agent market.
Put him one my wish list of Free Agent signees. Quote:Might Davon House - CB - Green Bay be a Free Agent that the Jags might consider to bring in to take over for Gratz? At the very least, I can easily envision the Jaguars being a major player for Davon House. Especially considering that DeWayne Walker, the Jaguars DB coach, was House's Head Coach with New Mexico State. Not to mention, House has the type of size the Jaguars seek at the position. The following is an article regarding Davon House, who I believe was an underrated player with the Packers: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...a-starter/ We show less advertisements to registered users. This list from Rotoworld is what I used last year to keep up with the different players as they sign with teams. Rotoworld will fill in the team and how much money they received. A very easy reference.
Have fun in the next 3 weeks. I am  http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/51...ree-agents Quote:Apparently, Jerry Hughes - DE - Bills will test the Free Agent market.I'm not so high on Hughes. He did absolutely nothing in Indy, then was traded to the Bills where he excelled on a line full of players that drew more attention than he did. If the Jags had two dominant tackles and one of the best ends in the game playing opposite him, I'd be all for this signing, but I think he's got very high bust potential. Never quite seized the opportunities with his original team, and may not be worth what he thinks he is.
Brandon Marshall's 2015 salary of 7.5 Mil is fully guaranteed on March 12th, 2015. There is a chance the Bears cut him before then.
Could Brandon Marshall be the Veteran WR that the Jags sign in Free Agency? He is 30 years old so he is near the of his career but he would be one heck of a slot WR. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Quote:Brandon Marshall's 2015 salary of 7.5 Mil is fully guaranteed on March 12th, 2015. There is a chance the Bears cut him before then. I don't think we're the type of team Marshall would be interested in and I think he'd get a decent contract should he end up being released. That said, I think he would be a very nice veteran option to bring in. He's a mismatch in the slot and if healthy, he's still productive. He was hobbled pretty much all season and still managed over 700 yards/8 TDs and had over 1,000 yards for seven straight seasons before that. I think he still has something left in the tank and if they're looking for a true veteran option at wideout, in my opinion, Marshall would be the best on the market. With the ACL injury that SenDerrick Marks suffered at the end of the season, I am wondering if the Jags will look for some help at the 3 Tech DT spot to rotate with Ziggy Hood?
One player that Dave Caldwell may have knowledge of is Corey Peters - 6'3" 305 Lbs - formerly 3rd Rd pick in 2010. He tore his Achilles at the end of the 2013 season, one which was his best yet. He returned to play in 2014 as a backup His stats: 2014 - 26 TT - 2 Sacks 2013 - 46 TT - 5 Sacks His 2013 stats put him on par with SenDerrick Marks, even though Marks had 8.5 sacks versus the 5 that Peters had. Still, Peters may be a upgrade over Ziggy Hood and Dave Caldwell may know of him when he was drafted by Atlanta when he was there. Someone to watch, just in case the Jags do not land Leonard Williams. Quote: While I agree in part of what you mentioned, I think the difference between the two CB's is Davon House is probably a better fit on the outside, while Walter Thurmond is probably a better fit as a Nickel CB. It wouldn't surprise me if Davon House doesn't get the type of contract offer that jumps out. He might be better off signing a one or two year contract, with a team that there's a realistic opening to be a starter. Then if things go right for House during the time frame of his new contract, he should have much more contract leverage when he's on the verge of becoming an UFA again. I truly believe House could surprise many people, if he stays healthy, focused, and goes to a situation that's fits his skills. Quote:Brandon Marshall's 2015 salary of 7.5 Mil is fully guaranteed on March 12th, 2015. There is a chance the Bears cut him before then. One major factor is the health of Brandon Marshall. If Marshall gets a clean bill of health, he's probably going to get a number of good offers. On the positive side, Brandon Marshall is a weapon in traffic and in the red zone. Even if it looks like Marshall is covered, he ends up catching the ball often. On the negative side, Marshall has a history of drops on passes he should bring in. While Marshall was more mature with the Bears than prior to coming to Chicago, I still would be concerned about having him around when things aren't going well for the team. Especially if the Offense is struggling and he's not getting the ball. It would make plenty of sense for the Jaguars brass to do as much research on Marshall as possible. His versatility to be able to matchup on the outside and in the slot is something that any team can use, providing the price is right, his health is good, and the personality doesn't become a negative force on the team,. |
