You are on your own train. I'm saying a lot of people were big on drafting Fisher in the 2nd round, RT, LT nobody cares. He fits the scheme and has the needed traits and just because Joeckel didn't rule at RT doesn't mean Fisher couldn't.

 

The position switch did not work for Eben Britton either. He was moved to left guard. Show me a player who excelled on the left side in college and was just as good on the right side in the NFL.

On Fowler:

 

I like the Clay Mathews comparison, Clay played the same way as Fowler when he was at USC very relentless and active, but Clay didnt jump off the charts athletically and didnt get picked very high in the 1st round. That wont happen to Fowler, I love both coming out too, wished we got Clay and hope we get Fowler if we cant get Williams

must be totally impossible then... joeckel wasn't terrible at RT iirc, at least not any worse than he is at LT... if your a good tackle you are going to excel in the nfl, if you suck, you're going to suck... getting rid of the tackle we had in place after we drafted one is how we ended up in the position we are in now... if we draft another one, lets try not to make the same mistakes we already made.

If we didn't have so many needs creating a conflict of interest, I would like something like: Sign Bryan Bulaga to start at RT and keep Pasztor as backup. RT-Done. Draft Jake Fisher and have him backup Luke Joeckel and have them battle it out to see who wins the job. If Joeckel maintains, we have a potential quality backup. If he loses out, we have Joeckel as a semi-decent backup and improve the LT position. However, we have bigger needs than competition at LT, at least that early in the draft.

Right, you don't want to waste an early pick on someone who might be a backup. Early picks are for Week 1 starters. That is why I am not interested in Jake Fisher - he will be picked much earlier than we should draft a potential backup. I also want Bryan Bulaga via free agency. But in the later rounds I would welcome a competition along the offensive line.

Tomorrow is Defensive Backs Day. That means we finally will learn a lot about Chris Hackett's ability to play the position in a 4-3-4 or 3-4-4 defense - something you can't see on film because TCU runs a 4-2-5 defense. The 40 yard dash will be the most important drill for him, especially the 10-yard split part of it.

 

I am only interested in what cornerbacks do if the Packers need them. However, if Alan Ball is not re-signed by March 9, we will need a replacement for him, so we might want to pick one late for depth.

For me, Leonard Williams is the no brainer pick if he's there at #3.

 

When looking at Fowler and Beasley, both are my favorites and guys I really like if Big Lenny isn't there.

 

The one thing that really stands out to me when watching them both, Beasley is a natural bender. He can bend at the waist and dip his shoulder to get around an OT like nobodies business. Now, will he be able to do that consistently at the NFL level is a question. With his first step and his speed, I think he will be able to a good bit. His biggest question is if he can maintain the edge enough in the run game to not be a liability.

 

Fowler, I don't really worry about him setting an edge in the run game because I believe he can just fine. He isn't a natural bender though and has to rely more on his rip and swim moves. There's nothing wrong with that, but you can teach guys those moves. You cannot teach somebody that natural bend.

 

Beasley is going to have to learn more moves at the NFL level because he isn't going to win with just his speed every single time, but man does he have a whole lot of ability to work with that you cannot teach.

 

In a perfect world, Fowler would be our OTTO and Beasley our LEO. That's obviously never going to happen, but it sure is a nice dream.  :woot:

He's a natural 3/4 OLB since he played that in college, he could play Otto or LEO in our defense

This could be a case of ignoring what happened in underwear workouts and trusting the game tape. If Dawson falls because of his performance I will be all over him in the mid rounds.

I would be somewhat suprised if Dawson doesn't improve on his 40 time at least a little at his pro day. With a slow time like that I expect him to run better at his pro day coupled with his play in college and he'll be just fine.
