Good grief.. 4-12 is the bar? That is genuinely pathetic.

About the only things I am clinging to are Allen Hurns' heart, AR15's clutch, and a D-line that didn't quit.

I didn't think of it that way. I want to talk to people who care about the Jags about what they think of it. Im not making money or anything from this. Just trying to bring awareness to something that is an awesome movement. You don't like it?

Been a Jags fan from the start even though I was only 4(I think I liked the colors.) I have never wavered despite the fact that I usually only get 2 games per year.

OP:

I was in my junior year of college when the Jags played their first game.  I appreciate that we have a growing group of fans younger than I.

I spent a year and a half following expansion news and attending rallies promoting an NFL team in Jacksonville before we "won" the team.

I was never a Dolphins fan. I was never a Bucs fan.  I wanted a team for my town and we got one.

This "generation" of folks that "grew up" with the Jags is great and I'm glad many are on board -  but - trust me  -   No one is more fanatical than myself and others who have been fans since Ed Austin and Tom Petway were pitching what many residents thought was a pipe dream to the citizens of Jacksonville.

I know you don't mean to be exclusionary  -  but growing up with the Jags being "all you knew" doesn't elevate the level of fanhood.

I commend you on the blog and wish you well with it. I'll check it out from time to time.  Linking to it here won't bother most folks if you don't do it in the majority of your posts or new threads.  Go Jags.

I was a Bears fan before the Jags. I feel fortunate that I was able to watch and follow Walter's career..

Once Jax got a team, ties were severed..

Great perspective! Thanks for the support! Go Jags!

I literally can only imagine what it must have been like to be old enough to be apart of all that excitement!!

No worries you can regret bringing the kids up with a difficult losing team or you can teach them the instant gratification ways and ride the Patriots bandwagon fandom.  There is a big reason to respect the core Steelers and Packers fans, they are in it no matter what.  Use our awful team to show that you have to work for things in life.  The winning is going to feel so much sweeter after this awful collection of years.

.. cheers ..

I love this team and the city. I grew up here my whole life. It's all I know. The fact that I am simply typing this right now sends chills up and down my arms and legs. I will be twenty seven years old on the 27th of next month. When the Jaguars were introduced in Jacksonville I was seven years old. I have never abanonded ship, nor will I for as long as they are here at home. I've never let my eye or loyalities roam, and I have supported this team to death. I love this team. Proud to call myself a fan. My dad dropped his Steelers in 95 for this team. My mother and grandfather dropped Marino and his Dolphins for this team. It means a lot man. It really does.

All of the above, plus it looks like you have a kid so add that to the list!  I'm in the exact same boat.

Grew up a Browns fan. Moved to Jax in 1985. Can still remember the exact moment at work when it started leaking out that we were going to be awarded the franchise. Still gives me chills to think about that moment and the euphoria that swept across the city and waiting in line at Penny's to get Jags shirts! Been a season ticket holder since Day One. So lots of us old farts that made that commitment to buy tickets in the beginning that helped make it a reality, but recognize that the younger generation will carry it forward. But just think of the excitement there will be, young and old, when we win it all!

Ahh.. I'm sorry, just so darn tired of 0-3 every year, and the season being over by week 5. The Detroit Lions were always the butt of jokes when I was growing up (and well into my adulthood). We have been the laughingstocks for too long now. People have no idea just how steep the climb out of the hole we are in is. It could easily be another decade of losing if we can't get some of the most basic concepts figured out. Like the passing on of experience as an example. Nevertheless, I am more optimistic than I have been in a long time. But we have a long way to go, and I am impatient. I am intolerant of mistakes and excuses, and cheerleading. Give me a sack, give me a pick, give me a long reception. Give me back to back quick scores. How about a play that leaves a wide-receiver WIDE OPEN? When was the last time we had one of those? Or a walk in TD for a running back because of the deceptive misdirective nature of the play design.

The goal for this season needs to be getting the monkey off our backs, and giving back to Detroit, or the Jets or something. We need to kick-butt in game one, send a message to the NFL, and repeat the message enough times until the jokes are behind us. We need to play like they made fun of our mommas or something. Fight like Buster Douglas did to finally topple the monolithic Iron Mike Tyson. The D-line did that last year, and they gave me something to point to, to get excited about, and most of all, something to rely on. If we are ever going to take the mantle from Andrew Luck, we had better put some grass-seed in his mouthguard.

So, my apologies, the bitter taste of our (to me at least) worst in franchise history offense is still fresh in my own mouth. And we have a long way to go.. My kid is still a fan (I think). He doesn't wear a jersey anymore (who can blame him?).

We need to win early, knock off some marquis names - and let their fans gnash their teeth until we get some respect, and it's not that they lost, but that we won. We need to learn to improve in EVERY category, and then improve on that. Rant rant rant...sorry. Hopefully I'll be in better spirits after FA and the draft (this is the best part of the season for Jax fans).

I think things will get better. It's the nature of any team sport really. It's rare that a team is always great or terrible. We all go through phases. Even the Lions and Cardinals. Of course the Browns are usually on the really short end of the sticks when it comes to jokes but if you do your homework like you should you'd know just how amazing they were when Otto Graham was the QB and they went to ten straight championship games before the Superbowl was a thought.

Bottomline, true fans stick it out, and they tough it out, and they hang in there. I have. For years. You just have to accept it. If you don't want to buy tickets to the games, that's on you, whether you have other priorities in life like family and financial freedom just isn't there, or, you just don't feel the need to buy any tickets. I've said for years that I was going to be a season ticket holder once I got myself established and my job was set. I am nearly at that point in my life finally to where I feel in a few months I can invest into a pair of season tickets. GOOD tickets, GOOD seats.

Win or lose. I'll be there.

What do you guys think of the logo we designed? Worked on it for a long time, now we are developing a couple new ones...

Its at the link on the first post of this thread. Constructive criticism is welcomed.
