Fowler looks a lot like a terrell suggs to me anyone else see this? i think you will flourish with other good pieces in place

Fowler seems to have too much risk for my tastes. I could see him being a 6 sack kind of guy and defending the run well. See Derrick Morgan, Titans. Or he could explode. That's why I don't envy Caldwell's job. I'd be picking the safest player with the highest perceived floor in the first round every time and then BAP players who fell below their expected range the rest of the draft.

well I don't see that. Morgan had work ethic and off the field concerns coming out of GT. Fowler love football and wants to be great and will do what ever takes to do so. That's what has made Peyton a great Qb. Made MJ great Hoops player and Tiger great Golfer.

Except you have no clue if Fowler really loves football and wants to be great more than any other candidate at 3, those are completely unmeasurable traits. Picking based on something like that will get a GM watching football games from the bleachers very quickly.

Fowler already has talked about starting some fashion business and doing TV. He is passionate about being in the spotlight. Not sure you can say he's more passionate about football than anyone else.

It does appear that he plays hard always though.

Based on how I see the first 35 picks turning out,   I think the two most likely choices are: 1)  Tevin Coleman.  2 )  Eric Kendricks.

Started watching Kendricks last week, he is a hard guy not to love. Just an all around football guy! I'm getting the feeling we will be lucky if he is there at 36

I think Eric Kendricks would be a great pick for the Jaguars.   He could easily become the Jags version of Bobby Wagner.  

 

One aspect of what Kendricks brings to the table that I think is going to really help the team that ends up with him is his intangibles.  Kendricks is a tremendous leadership and has an excellent football IQ.

I'm with you. Kendricks is fine but there would be better picks fairly easily to me. He isn't even a plus athlete, especially for his size. If we go LB at 36 I am hoping it is Stephone Anthony to replace Poz down the road. Plenty big and was #1 SPARQ LB.

  When looking at the construction of the Jaguars Defense,  I'm going under the assumption that to at least a large extent,  the Jags team brass prefers the Seahawks blue print.  Whether that's a good way to approach projecting what the Jags will do in terms of personnel moves is certainly open to debate. 

 

  Being that I believe Tevin Coleman can be a fit in a variety of ways and situations,  at the very least I think he's going to get strong consideration if he's there with pick # 36.    The more the Jags have RB's available that the opposing Defense have to respect,   the greater the chances of Blake Bortles making major improvement and the better chance that Bortles remains in one piece.   While Tevin Coleman doesn't have great size,  at least on the college level he's held up relatively well in pass protection.

I think at the backer position size is becoming less of a factor just because of how defenses spread you out so much. the more important thing in the nfl today is to be equally good at defending the pass although there are pros and cons of each. I'm trying to look at it from totally football and talent based. Remember that Lavonte David guy everyone passed on because of size! that turned out pretty good! overall still hoping this pick is Gus and Caldwells Favorite RB who they have a clear cut plan for

Wow. If Kendricks is there at 36 then it's an easy choice to make.


Same is true of a lot of other first rounders who might unexpectedly slip (there's going to be someone). How about Andrus Peat ? Or Shaq Thomson ? That number 36 pick could be just as valuable (in its own way) as the number 3 pick.

Well I don't like the term safest play just because there's no guarantees but I'd say Leonard Williams or maybe Amari Cooper.

Yea i believe every player is a risk, but i do agree Coop and Williams are solid picks..
