Jags might have a chance at Williams if Browns come up and get Mariotta

How about helping to keep opposing offenses out of the endzone? That would help out greatly..

Would he really help more then Marks or Odericks could do?How about the jags get somebody that can help them put points on the board. We had far more troubles doing that last year.

Yeah but a good D-line will rotate several good/great players. Your complaint about the offensive woes last year isn't falling on deaf ears, it's just that we should expect some growth out of the young players we have on offense and some of what you are complaining about might work itself out anyway.  We have three guys on our d-line that we actually drafted: Alualu, Branch and Chris Smith.  It's an area that we have drafted poorly and/or sparingly in recent years, but it is a very important component to any good defense.  We're gonna need to expend some resources there sooner or later.  Why not look at a guy viewed by many as the best prospect in the entire draft and a guy who has been compared to Richard Seymour and J.J. Watt?  And come on, the dude's nick name is "Big Cat".  It's destiny.

Because of his position or because of his talent? Of course a skill player like Cooper or Gurley would be much more flashier of a pick but winning in the trenches is the name of the game.

If you wanna look at it in a view point of the future, he would be a excellent pick for us. But if you wanna just look at who can do the most for the jags right now i just don't think he that guy... I believe Cooper,Gurley or Beasley could do more for us then Williams..

Any good GM that isn't on the hotseat should be looking at the future and is probably making decisions thinking ahead 3 years.  It's the coach that is responsible for the right now.  I don't think Caldwell's seat is so hot just yet, so I think the responsible thing is to continue making decisions looking down the road.

I was watching Brian Sexton interview Pat Kirwan, who I think used to be a scout, and Kirwan made the case that Williams is so versatile, he can play any position on the defensive line, and so talented, what you do is line him up against the weakest opposing offensive lineman and wreak havoc.   Find the weak spot in the opponent's offensive line and put Williams over that guy.  Opposing offenses have to game plan around Williams.   Backs have to be kept in the backfield.  Extra blockers have to be put on him.

That's a very attractive situation for our defense.

Personally, I think the Titans will take him, and we will have to deal with him twice a year for the next 10 years.    Let's all pray that Cleveland can make the deal for Mariota.

Thoughts?
I thought the Browns were going to try to trade with Titans to get DL Leonard Williams since he is most like J J Watt and the front 30 style defense that both Cleveland & Texans run?

Teams still score with Suh on the field. The fact of the matter is it doesn't matter how good your defense is as good offenses will score regardless. That's why it's important to find balance between making stops and scoring points.

I hope Cleveland wants to deal with us
