Quote:There is plenty that is positive. The biggest in my opinion is it starts a conversation and one society can no longer hide from. It gets back to what rocdee expressed earlier in this thread regardless whether the conversation has started or not: " He is and will always be Bruce". Really, who cares? I sure don't, this is his/her business.....whatever. Society HAS hidden from it. Quote: It gets back to what rocdee expressed earlier in this thread regardless whether the conversation has started or not:To you yes. To others no. Which goes back to my original point. Most people never really knew what it meant to be Transgender or only had a view point from what they learned from their parents/church. Now people are looking it up, talking about it, learning more, debating and that is a good thing.
Quote:Society HAS hidden from it. How so, please do explain. I don't think society has hidden from it. Most of us just don't give a rats behind....because it doesn't affect us in the least. Who cares, other than those affected? Which is what percent of the population?
Have you seen my baseball?

Which is what percent of the population? Obviously many people care. Society has hidden from it because it isn't something they want to confront or face or talk about. Society as a whole. Individually I'm not trying to debate your opinion of how you feel. People are now learning more about it, asking questions and debating. This really wasn't being done before. We as a society have to confront it or voice our opinion because people are going to ask you what you think. If you don't get it then I don't know what more to say. But it's not like we're debating world hunger here...we're talking about a very small percentage of the world's population. We have bigger fish to fry.
Have you seen my baseball?
Quote:It gets back to what rocdee expressed earlier in this thread regardless whether the conversation has started or not: If he doesn't want to be Bruce anymore, I don't think anyone has the right to force him to be just because it makes you more comfortable to do so. It doesn't have to be your thing for you to be able to support another person doing their thing.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:I get your point. But it's not like we're debating world hunger here...we're talking about a very small percentage of the world's population. We have bigger fish to fry. Yeah, but to the people that are going through it, it's a very big fish.

Can't we fry multiple fish? Just because people are talking about this doesn't mean they aren't talking about other things as well. Can't always brush the minority under the rug can you? And it is bigger then just transgender. It gives others hope. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Yeah, but to the people that are going through it, it's a very big fish. And I'm sure they are dealing with it the best they can...why do we all have to be involved? It doesn't affect hardly any of us. If the dude wants to cut off his junk and still date women...whatever. Really, am I out of touch here?

Most people never really knew what it meant to be Transgender or only had a view point from what they learned from their parents/church. Now people are looking it up, talking about it, learning more, debating and that is a good thing. Richard Raskind took a similar path in the 1970's that Bruce Jenner did in current times. Without reading or hearing what Bruce Jenner said, it wouldn't surprise me in the least that Raskind's action had an influence in his decision.

If the dude wants to cut off his junk and still date women...whatever. Really, am I out of touch here?Other than hearing about it, how are you involved exactly? No one is forcing you to participate, so your junk is safe and sound. And to answer your last question, yes, you are. ![]()

And many care in a way that is damaging to transgenders. Man wouldn't it be great if people would stop focusing so much on what others do? That just isn't reality. Quote:If he doesn't want to be Bruce anymore, I don't think anyone has the right to force him to be just because it makes you more comfortable to do so. Regardless what I think or any of us think, Bruce Jenner or any human being can't truly change who he is when it comes to male vs. female. Quote:Other than hearing about it, how are you involved exactly? No one is forcing you to participate, so your junk is safe and sound. Fine...I'm out of touch. So be it. How about the ESPY's, CNN, ESPN, FOX, NBC, CBS, MSNBC team up and send boat loads of food all over the world to feed the hungry kids rather than put this guy on a pedestal? I mean he was already there before anyways.....hello Miss Decathalon! Seriously, these kardashians just enjoy the publicity.

Have you seen my baseball?
And jtmoney...you got your wish, we're talking about it. You and I just disagree about how important the subject matter is. And that's fine.
Have you seen my baseball?
Quote:Exactly...stop focusing on what others do....it's really none of our business. I'm not focused on it. This is the only place I have discussed it. Most of my focus today was working. Whether I agree with something or not I can except reality. Reality is it is a topic of discussion whether you get why or not. |
