A lot of people may not agree with what he's doing, but give him credit, it does take courage.
With that said, ESPN knows that if shows up to the awards, their ratings are going to get a huge boost for the Espy's.
Good for her. It does take courage. It takes courage for the average person to get to the point to do this, I couldn't imagine how hard it has to be to be famous for being a manly man athlete and then decide to do this.
I saw her Vanity Fair cover, and she is prettier than I thought she'd be, that's for sure.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

Goes to prove that plastic surgery and some really good make up artists can do anything. Quote:Goes to prove that plastic surgery and some really good make up artists can do anything. I dunno about that. Photoshop may deserve the credit in this case.

Part of me thinks this is just a ratings stunt by ESPN. Most of me wants to hope that it's not just a dog and pony show and a genuine recognition of how much intestinal fortitude it's taken her to make this transition.
Quote:Meh, good for him or w/e I just don't get how it's courageous. Just think of what actually has to be done to make him a her. It's usually not something most men like to mess around with.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
My wife just sent me a piece from the article where he basically says he was included in everything when he was the bread winner of the family. Once the family business started taking off and she started taking all the credit, he started getting phased out of everything.

Certainly courageous...I just don't understand it and I never will. To each their own I guess. Non story for me.
Have you seen my baseball?

I guess this involves a certain level of courage, but is it on par with being awarded something that has gone to those battling terrible diseases like cancer, or to someone like Nelson Mandela? Methinks there might be a wee bit of pandering going on here. I'm not sure how, beyond just coming out and announcing he was transitioning, courage plays into this. The guy is doing this entire transformation in front of cameras that will document his life for a new reality show. He's just becoming his own Kardashian at the end of the day. I think that diminishes some of the 'courage' factor.
Don't get me wrong. I think Jenner is a genuinely decent person, and that he's had to live with this his entire adult life. I just don't see it on the same level as others who have received this award, and what they received it for. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Meh... the main stream media is plastering this story everywhere as if to make a PC point. It used to be a sport-oriented award, but now it's nothing more than a "feel good" award, much like the Nobel Peace Prize.
I suppose that he/she is "courageous" for putting his/her personal life out there for all to see. If he/she was being honored for his accomplishment in the Olympics I might care. I think that diminishes some of the 'courage' factor. Pretty much what I am thinking and a better way to put it. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. Quote:Meh... the main stream media is plastering this story everywhere as if to make a PC point. It used to be a sport-oriented award, but now it's nothing more than a "feel good" award, much like the Nobel Peace Prize.Exactly. The best part about this is that the MSM jumped into this with both feet obsessing over his transition, hanging on his every word when he did that interview recently. Then he dared to admit his conservative political viewpoint during the interview. The twitterverse went berserk trashing the guy after spending all of the time up to that point lauding him for being so forthcoming. It was an amazing shift and it happened in an instant. The reaction was swift and it was absolutely brutal. Here they were thinking they had a kindred spirit standing up and joining the LGBT community only to come out as an evil conservative. What a letdown that must have been for them. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I don't find it courageous at all but I'm in the minority that's fine. I've never cared nor watched the ESPY this won't change that for me.
