Jags Buy or Sell Candidates
|
I'm buying Bortles and Caldwell as well. As for Bradley, I need to see more before I can buy or sell.
I'm also buying DeMetrius McCray, Sen'Derrick Marks, Julius Thomas, Brandon Linder and Josh Scobee. I'll go ahead and sell Marquis Lee (if the price is right) , Cyprian and Alualu. I'm not selling Joekel because even if the Jaguars were to land a stellar starting LT, we really need a guy like Joeckel for depth so we don't lose yet another season to lack of depth at LT.

Let me clarify on Bradley...
I have seen enough to know and like Bradley as the HC and am hoping he'll work out for a long time to come. I just simply have to see the results. I mean JDR got much better results early on after his initial losing streak, and I still see JDR as being more of a defensive guru than Gus. I only wish that Jack washed his hands of the offense like Gus is doing by allowing a team of former coordinators to handle every aspect of the offense. I love Gus' determination and his passion for what he believes, so as long as I start to see the wins I'm expecting (six to nine) then I'm totally on his bandwagon.

I buy a ticket to a game.
I sell said ticket if I can't attend. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Selling Bradley any one who thinks with a worse record their was improvement has issues. He has historically one of the worst records for a two year coach ever. We need the do your job guy. This version has not cut it. And thinking with better players things will change? I am not buying it. I would love to be proven wrong. I just don't see it.

Isn't the hire of Bradley essentially Caldwell's? If so, I'm not sure I'd buy Dave and sell Gus.

Quote:You mean someone who has recently been fired for failing? Otherwise, who is this proven NFL head coach who should be hired? Both Chucky and Arians were available at the time the Jags hired Bradley. Jeff Fisher was available when Mularkey was hired. There were other less likely candidates such as Cowher and Dennis Greene. Maybe you don't like any of these guys, but my question stands. It's not as if the Jags would have had to dig up Vince Lombardi to find a proven NFL head coach. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Quote:I am surprised at how many of you are willing to pass on Bradly so soon. Look at the roster he has had to work with thus far. What do you really expect with what he has had to work with? How about just not collapsing in the second half of games? I think the halftime adjustments are a good indication of the quality of coaching. Or maybe winning ONE game before week six? Sure the talent has been weak, but the top four draft picks from 2013 all regressed in 2014. Shouldn't coaching be given at least some of the blame? "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Quote:Isn't the hire of Bradley essentially Caldwell's? If so, I'm not sure I'd buy Dave and sell Gus. Everyone makes mistakes; it would be unfortunate if Caldwell's biggest one was hiring Gus, especially since he's done a decent job of restocking the roster with talent. I think Khan and co are smart enough to decide if Dave deserves another shot should Gus get his pink slip in the next year or two.
As players will come and go, the true success will come from the following.
1.) Shad Khan: The man w/the plan. As he has filled individual positions w/people of success, this establishment will only go as far as those to whom he hired. 2.) Dave Caldwell: His ability to select talent is above and beyond so far. He values the opinions of his staff while making the proper choices. 3.) Gus Bradley: Gus' long term success will depend on his ability to entrust his offensive staffing to be competitive on the field. These three will be credited w/the on field success. I cannot not mention Mr. Lamping's success off the field. His vision matches Mr. Khans and if it wasn't for him, our establishment wouldn't be where it's at, at this point. Mr. Lamping has done a tremendous job of upgrading the stadium while making our stadium the Best Game Day Experience within the NFL. His knowledge of what's needed to be successful is second to none. If we look back to the past, we were competitive only for a short period w/Coughlin in complete control. When he was fired, we slumped into what is know as Cellar Dwellers and has remained as such until Mr. Khan purchased the team. It'll take a few years to see the true outcome of what's in store for us as fans but I definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are on our way to respectability and finally being acknowledged by most and soon will be acknowledged by all. This is the direct result of my three (four) choices to which our team shall be successful in the years to come . NH3...

It's not as if the Jags would have had to dig up Vince Lombardi to find a proven NFL head coach. I'm not saying that Bradley is Hall of Fame bound. Who knows? Usually the better your players the better your coaching. And if former coaches are always hired, due to fear of criticism of hiring an unknown, all NFL coaches would be 75 years old. Arians is the only one you mentioned that seems a possible great hire. I don't think there is a way in the world Chucky or Cower were coming to Jacksonville. Jeff Fisher? Really? And Dennis Greene? Come on. My point is that you have to take a chance and hire who you feel is right. Don't just go with the last "name" guy who got fired and is now doing television. And as the team gets better (we all hope) the perception of Bradley will improve. And he may improve as well.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

People can't point out how bad the key acquisitions he has made are and then turn around and say he is doing a good job. That's just talking out of both sides of their mouth.

From my perspective, Caldwell didn't do a very good job in 2013, but has really stepped up these last two years, especially with the draft. Since the topic is buy/sell, it pertains to the recent activities of the people, not their past history. Caldwell has drafted very well recently (at least appears to have drafted very well). We made 2 playoffs appearances after Coughlin, including an over achieving 12-4 record in 07. We weren't cellar dwellers under JDR. If I recall, fans' angst with his era was being 'average'. We finished 2nd in the division the majority of that period. We became laughing stocks post JDR, not post Coughlin, in my view.
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.
I'm not selling anyone till we see where we stand in December, with our most robust roster in half a decade. Barring the unforseen, injury wise, we should see significant strides. I wish coach Bradley the best of luck, and hope he helps steer our team upward.

Yeah -- I'm not hitting the "sell" button on anyone till at least after preseason.
However, there are a few guys that it's easy to "buy." Linder McCray Colvin J. Thomas Allen Robinson Telvin Smith and of course Caldwell - he done way more good than bad in his attempts to repair this roster with rising young players. ^ all pretty easy to feel confident about for me. There are three or four other guys that are on the bubble of that list but need to step up and/or be used properly by the coaching staff. Bortles is one of those. Bradley is too. |
