By refunding everyone who ever bought a $5 footlong. They'll provide the rest to Jarod behind bars.

Lots of people hurt in this...victims, Jared's wife, Jared himself, and all the people that he helped to inpsire.

I knew he was addicted to explicit media use since being in college, when he was overweight. I wonder if he always had a fetish for young girls, or if the explicit media use got out of control and his appetite (no pun intended) became insatiable.

It's hard to imagine why some people do what they do.  I'm going to use a qualifier and I hope that people won't take this the wrong way.  At least this involved minors that were close to the age of being adults.  I'm not saying that it makes it right, but when I see the charge of "child p" I often think of very young children.  I'm not saying that one is worse than the other (exploiting children is despicable in my mind), but in all fairness, his victims had a pretty good idea of what they were doing and played a role in it.  At least that's how I see it in the news reports.

Again, I'm not defending him in any way, but I'm willing to bet that a 16 or 17 year old girl has a pretty good idea of what they are doing for money.

I see your point, but it's wrong on a different level. Instead of exploiting innocents and betraying their trust in adults, he took advantage of children with a messed up notion of sexuality. It can be easy to say they knew what they were up to, but what kind of history must a young girl have to lead her into situations like this.

Law is what the law is, and it doesn't always make sense. And the above notion is why they took out all of your factors as a defense years ago-because having a pretty good idea cannot equal consent. It does kind of sound like you are defending him, at the end.

I imagine a lot of this has to do with the oddities and strange twists in the law, much as:

One day you, a 23 year, 364 day old guy are living with and have "relations" with the 17 year old mother of your child. What happens?

Nothing, not a crime.

The day after next you turn 24 (and obviously, to make the point, she gets older as well....) still having "relations" what happens?

Guilty of committing a felony.

Such is the law in Florida anyway.

I too understand your point.

My first look would be the parental upbringing.  What kind of life or home do these children come from?  I would wager that young girls (and boys) that would be involved in something like this don't always come from social or economic "disadvantaged" families.

Next would be (for me personally) the influence of faith or lack thereof.  I don't want to get religious in this thread, but generally speaking, faith tends to institute certain morals into people's lives.  The decision of "right vs. wrong" is often talked about and taught in places of faith.

The final, and most likely history of some of the young girls that do this is probably influence from pop culture and/or the society that we live in right now.  Turn on the TV, get on the internet or simply look at your smart phone, and it's all there.  This is a very different world that we live in with information moving at such a rapid pace.

Once again, I do not condone the behavior of exploiting children and I am certainly not placing any blame on the victims.  However, I do believe that more needs to be addressed to prevent something like this from ever happening again.

It's far too easy in today's society for predators to operate and get their prey, just like it's far too easy for victims to become said prey.

Be as pithy as you want.  It doesn't bother me.  For the record, I do think that jokes regarding the deceased whether they were famous or not is very poor taste, but that's just me.  I also still have a problem with things said in public regarding a person that is charged with a crime, but not convicted.

Apparently they are revising their slogan to illustrate the fact that they have more cold cuts than their competitors.

Rumor inside Subway circles was that while in college, he ran a porn rental business out of his dorm room.  When the Subway opened up in the same building as his dorm, he never had to leave the dorm.

And that's the rest of the story.

Explains it all, really.
