Could the Jaguars trade Scobee? Ryan O thinks so. (Scobee Traded to steelers)

Quote:its the truth,we have had the most games in lodon, and theres been talk of getting more games in london. it won't be long before they move to london. Khan lied about not moveing the team ever.  i say in about 2 years or less we will be the London Jaguars
dude... aren't you the one usually calling for the Jags to win the SB every year?

I think you should chill... Kahn himself has said the NFL can not sustain more than a few games in London each year.

Don't jump on the conspiracy train.

Or...teams use additional 6th rounders to package to move up for another mid round pick. McCray in the 7th, Bowanko in the 6th....you find players where you find players.

Quote:I am very disappointed. Scobee was the most influential and clutch player on the team. A 6th round pick for him? Teams use those to wipe their [BAD WORD REMOVED] with.

IMHO the Steelers got a very good deal. Scobee is only 33 years old and is one of the best kickers in the league. Friggen Adam Vinatieri is 44 years old!

Instead we now have an unproven kicker. This reminds me of trading Monroe because we drafted Joekel.

Please don't apply logic here.  It's better to just wring your hands about the trade.  Scobee was clearly worth a 1st or 2nd round pick, and nothing less for the hand wringers.  It doesn't matter that a kicker who lost the position battle and was likely to be cut wound up bringing some value to the team in trade.  Even if the team got a 1st rounder for him, the same hand wringers would complain that because he lead the team in scoring, he was worth at least 2 high round picks.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Sad to see the Colt Killer go.  He has had 8 game winning kicks for us.  Franchise leader in points to boot.

Here we go Meyers era, hope everyone has their popcorn and heart medicine ready...

Favorite game-winning kick?

That 59-yarder in 2010 against the Colts. Just wow. I nearly lost my mind. 59 yards!

@APMarkLong: Apparently new Jaguars PK Jason Myers is 19 of 20 in practice between 40 and 53 yards

Seems pretty good to me.

He reminds me a LOT of how Scobee looked as a rookie.

We're basically hitting the rewind/reset button on the same guy.

Who wouldn't want that?

Quote:Longest tenured is correct but doesn't really mean that much. And is certainly not influential.

I just think people are getting way, way too emotional about this trade.

I believe it is Marcedes now that has played the longest.
We've been moving on to younger players with more upside for a while now. Kicker spot is no different.

Even more specifically on Scobee's deal, Jags pay $925K in bonus and Steelers pay $2.5M for 2015

The Steelers, who also have to pay two other kickers, pay the remaining $2.45M to Scobee in salary, so he gets the full $3.45M he was due

I doubt they were paying Hartley anything more than the vet minimum, but do we know how much they were paying Suisham?

If I lose out on Firehouse Subs because of this move, then Caldwell better get the hook ( and ladder)

But someone mentioned " the 10 year rebuild continues"... Hope it ain't so. 7 some years of losing records ... Wait..does that mean 3 years to go?

I suppose that could be the dark side of the deal.

He could lose the job to Suisham next year, as Suisham was under contract until 2018.  Not only that, they just restructured Suisham a couple hours ago to relieve themselves cap space.

They rented Scobee for a season at 2.5 million and a draft pick. Not such a good move IMO.

If you want to get technical, it's 4 years of losing records.
