You can be tired of the losing and frustrated with the won-loss record, but implying professionals are stealing money, with no proof whatsoever, speaks more about you than M. Lewis. The stuff about Blackmon is you talking out your butt.

Lewis has never had a season like the one prior to getting paid.  That's a fact.  He's aleady mapping out his post-playing career on the West Coast....nothing wrong in that I suppose but a younger hungrier tight end would suit me just fine.

Eh, I'd trust them more on Offensive players than Defensive players.  And even then mainly for stats.  Their system for grading Defensive players has seemed wonky.  Didn't they have Paul Posluszny as our worst rated Defensive player last year?  I know he had a really bad grade.  -14.3 as matter of fact, which was lower than Tyson Alualu.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke. 

Two things I have issue with the team at the moment....

 

The organization (or maybe the media) seem to broadly blame the poor performance on needed roster turnover with the new regime.  I think this has merit on the defensive side of the ball and to some degree on special teams.  However, the offense has been horrible, and this starting unit does not get to use this excuse.  Of the 11 base offense starters, only one (Joeckel) is a rookie (two if you include Sanders when they are in a 3 WR set).

 

Secondly, they chose not to spend or use almost $20m in cap space this year.  I agree that there were not many "A" players in free agency, but there were quite a few "B" players in free agency that would have been upgrades to this roster.  Thank you for the current and future facility improvements, but the core entertainment product (the team) could have used more of an investment. If you choose to "save money" on the roster, in this case, you get what you pay for.      

 

And I find it difficult to believe that there is no one in the country that the Jags can sign that will play better than those 3 interior linemen.  Even if they are over the age of 25.

Have you watched many NFL games this year? There is bad offensive line play across the league. Rackley has been god awful and yet there are still linemen in the league grading out worse than him. Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing Pasztor getting a shot at LG.

Their Poz rating was the basis of my comment that I don't consider PFF always correct. It may be all defensive players, it may just be LBs (they also were panned by Marvin Lewis for their ratings of the Bengals LBs). If their analysis agrees with mine then I'm more likely to believe I didn't miss something, but I take their ratings with a grain of salt. I was disappointed in what I saw from Cyprien Sunday. One big play on a safety blitz (where he missed the initial hit) does not overshadow a bunch of missed tackles and blown coverages.

The problem is that some people are expecting rookies to immediately be better than the players they replaced. The true, fair test will be comparing players on the roster in 2 - 3 years to how the players they replaced are doing then.

Does it work for teams every year or are the Colts a once in a blue moon occurrence? Kinda of like the 1996 Jaguars season. Sure there are surprise teams every year but in general you have to build with a plan and stick to it.

If we can sign free agents to a 2 year contract, which may be more than a scrub rookie would make, I don't see why you wouldn't put a better person on the field at marginally more money.  As others have said in the thread, we don't expect a lot of these guys to be here long term anyway.  But, imo, you're cheating the fans and the skill position players you're trying to evaluate by signing guys to the roster that are low money bottom feeders that you *know* aren't in your long term plans  when you can afford to sign better FAs.
