I figured out who Bortles reminds me of.

Quote:Sure.... so wipe off 2 TDs and 4 INTS. Where does that leave him? Why not wipe off 4 TDs and 2 INTs? What's the principled methodology for doing so? Mariota can't throw past 10 yards. Exposed by Miami (who bortles lit up) as an NFL fraud. Pick 6 cost them the game. Couldn't bring his team back for the win. Less athletic version of RG3, minus the winning attitude. tacks should have traded up for Jameis Winston, a real QB. Mariota= BUST

Blake Bortles......YOU'RE FIRED! Dave Caldwell.....YOU'RE FIRED! Quote:Bro I specifically mentioned multiple things that he struggled with yesterday besides the picks and you Ingnired all of those points only to keep defending the 3 picks. Lol who's trolling? You are like Gus you won't even address the issues head on. You would need to be specific. With the pics it is something tangible we can debate and discuss. You are throwing generalized talking points. What passes are you referring to where he missed an open receiver or threw wobbly ducks? I'm not saying he didn't, but without knowing which ones it is hard to pin point the blame on him or other factors. I remember a wobbly pass he threw out of bounds while avoiding a sack. I'm sure he had some missed opportunities. Anyways, let me know which ones you are referring to and I will give a response. Or not.

Quote:Bortles cost the Jaguars that game? Did you see that defense? Lack of running game? Terrible offensive line? You really have no idea what led to those interceptions. It could have been incorrect routes from the receivers. It's just easy to point at the quarterback. It doesn't take the fact away that he threw 3 picks which contributed to the loss in a big way. And yet you defend our scrub arena league kicker for missing 3 game winning kicks.

Don't worry, I hear Applebees needs a new dishwasher.Serious question to ask. How old are you, and what do you do for a living?

But here are just a few. He missed Allen hurns deep and chose to pass to jt. He over threw arob when he had a step on his man and overthrew hurns wide open on third down in the 3rd. If you don't recall those I suggest you rewatch the game. It will be glaring.then look for the passes on his heels and watch for the floaters and wobbles. He did it all yesterday. Quote:And yet you defend our scrub arena league kicker for missing 3 game winning kicks. I said he should get more time because there's nothing to lose at this point especially since we got a pick. But it wasn't his fault we lost that game. Our offense failed to score more than 13 points on a vulnerable defense. Quote:So if we are so ready to take the blame off Bortles for the INTs, do we also take away credit for his TD passes? You can't have it both ways here.Yes!! Take it all off the board, everything that has happened this season. All the yards, touchdowns, picks, everything!! If fact we can just start it all over , draft and all. Just kidding, but imagine the money the Titans would pay me if I could pull it off!

Are we referring to the passes where he was almost sacked and constant pressure He faced all game long? I'll look at those 3 instances. Quote:Why not wipe off 4 TDs and 2 INTs? What's the principled methodology for doing so? He only has the two garbage time TDs from the Patriots game, and there are at least 4 INTs that really weren't his fault.

I recall an extremely wobbly pass toward ARob that went incomplete, but on re-play you could see a defender got a hand on it partially deflecting the pass. It still had enough torque on it, though, to practically hit ARob in the hands.

There were also cases where the receiver did a lot more for the TD than Bortles did, or what should have been INTs were broken up by WRs or dropped by defenders. It doesn't make sense to play those games unless you can clearly develop a principled methodology for doing so. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! And what TD was a near INT broken up by the WR? I don't recall anything like that.

Quote:Those were during comeback attempts... not garbage time. He has had tons of near INTs this season. Comeback attempts don't start with a TD in the last few minutes of the game when you're down more than 2 possessions.
I can't believe Jags fans are complaining about Bortles. The guy is on pace to throw 30 TDs and 4,000 yards...in only his second year! If you had told me that when we'd drafted him, I'd be thrilled. He doesn't have a 60% completion rate because he takes a lot of shots down the field--and I for one, love it. The kid has so many 40+ yard completions, something we haven't seen since Brunell. It's a very exciting brand of football.
I realize he's got a lot to learn--he needs to cut down on the INTs. Personally, I think Blake feels too much pressure, like it's all on him to win. Unfortunately, he's not wrong. Outside of the passing game, the offense shows nothing. The running game stinks. Why aren't my fellow Jags fans complaining about that? Why does TJ Yeldon, for example, seem to get a pass from the fans? He's had one great game against the Colts, but other than than, he's good for about three yards a carry. As for Bortles, the game still needs to slow down for him. He needs to make his reads, wait for the open guy. But he can learn that. And isn't nice to actually have receivers who CAN get open? That's something this team hasn't had in a long time. Anyone who expects a 23 year old kid to play like Tom Brady in his prime is fooling himself. But I very much like what I've seen so far. |
