You would need to be specific.  With the pics it is something tangible we can debate and discuss.  You are throwing generalized talking points.  What passes are you referring to where he missed an open receiver or threw wobbly ducks?  I'm not saying he didn't, but without knowing which ones it is hard to pin point the blame on him or other factors.  I remember a wobbly pass he threw out of bounds while avoiding a sack.  I'm sure he had some missed opportunities.  Anyways, let me know which ones you are referring to and I will give a response.  Or not.

He over threw arob when he had a step on his man and overthrew hurns wide open on third down in the 3rd. If you don't recall those I suggest you rewatch the game. It will be glaring.then look for the passes on his heels and watch for the floaters and wobbles. He did it all yesterday.

I said he should get more time because there's nothing to lose at this point especially since we got a pick. But it wasn't his fault we lost that game. Our offense failed to score more than 13 points on a vulnerable defense.

I recall an extremely wobbly pass toward ARob that went incomplete, but on re-play you could see a defender got a hand on it partially deflecting the pass. It still had enough torque on it, though, to practically hit ARob in the hands.

He had garbage time TDs against the Bucs and Texans too. There were also cases where the receiver did a lot more for the TD than Bortles did, or what should have been INTs were broken up by WRs or dropped by defenders. It doesn't make sense to play those games unless you can clearly develop a principled methodology for doing so.

He has had tons of near INTs this season. Comeback attempts don't start with a TD in the last few minutes of the game when you're down more than 2 possessions.

I can't believe Jags fans are complaining about Bortles. The guy is on pace to throw 30 TDs and 4,000 yards...in only his second year! If you had told me that when we'd drafted him, I'd be thrilled. He doesn't have a 60% completion rate because he takes a lot of shots down the field--and I for one, love it.  The kid has so many 40+  yard completions, something we haven't seen since Brunell. It's a very exciting brand of football.

 

I realize he's got a lot to learn--he needs to cut down on the INTs.  Personally, I think Blake feels too much pressure, like it's all on him to win. Unfortunately, he's not wrong. Outside of the passing game, the offense shows nothing. The running game stinks. Why aren't my fellow Jags fans complaining about that?  Why does TJ Yeldon, for example, seem to get a pass from the fans? He's had one great game against the Colts, but other than than, he's good for about three yards a carry.

 

As for Bortles, the game still needs to slow down for him. He needs to make his reads, wait for the open guy. But he can learn that. And isn't nice to actually have receivers who CAN get open? That's something this team hasn't had in a long time.

 

Anyone who expects a 23 year old kid to play like Tom Brady in his prime is fooling himself. But I very much like what I've seen so far.
