I never specifically broke him down and just watched him play by play until a few days ago. I only watched games and broke down other players. I was actually under the impression that he was really good until I took a closer look.

Eric Berry is a SS, we already two SS's in Cyprien and Sample (I think DC drafted Sample as Cyp's replacement in 2016).

 

 

Sample can play strong or free, and all the other Jaguars safeties suck bigtime. I've largely ignored Ramsey simply because I'm not accustomed to seeing Safeties go earlier than the 20s, but it's an interesting thought if he truly is that good.

It's hard to get too much of a read on his ability to cover and tackle from these, but what is clear is that he's constantly looking for and going for the ball like true playmakers do, and we all know the Jaguars defense is desperate for playmakers.

For the first time since he's been here, Gus admitted openly to how difficult it is to find the FS that they really want in this scheme. That you can't find it typically with 3rd/4th/5th round guys (or maybe he said 4th/5th/6th). They want a FS who can cover sideline to sideline, but some safeties don't have the speed for that. So he said you look at corners (who have the speed and cover ability), but problem with most corners is they can't tackle. 

 

Ramsey is all that and more.

 

If Fowler (or a FA) can provide the pass rush, and Marks comes back healthy to provide inside penetration, a player like Ramsey will change this defense because of the things he can do.

I think we get a FS in FA so I dont think it really matters.  If we dont get a FS in FA than I can see us taking Ramsey but it is a safe bet FS is top on the FA list with Weddle and Gipson being FA.  We could only pray Berry hits FA but I say its about a 5% chance
