Jalen Ramsey has to be the Jaguars pick

Huh?

I never specifically broke him down and just watched him play by play until a few days ago. I only watched games and broke down other players. I was actually under the impression that he was really good until I took a closer look.

Watching FSU choke is always entertaining.

Quote:Eric Berry is a SS, we already two SS's in Cyprien and Sample (I think DC drafted Sample as Cyp's replacement in 2016).

Sample can play strong or free, and all the other Jaguars safeties suck bigtime. I've largely ignored Ramsey simply because I'm not accustomed to seeing Safeties go earlier than the 20s, but it's an interesting thought if he truly is that good.

Apparently the jury is still out.

Just for kicks, here's some Ramsey highlights...

It's hard to get too much of a read on his ability to cover and tackle from these, but what is clear is that he's constantly looking for and going for the ball like true playmakers do, and we all know the Jaguars defense is desperate for playmakers.

Yep. And here comes the Fall of Jimbo. They have at least 2 losses left and likely 3

losing 2 or 3 games this year is not going to be his downfall

You''re right.... setting the program back by using another teams QB for 1 year will be the downfall. That's not how you build a team.

Gus pretty much confirmed that Ramsey is the FS we're looking for.

What did he say?

Gus was asked how you evaluate CB vs. Safety prospects

For the first time since he's been here, Gus admitted openly to how difficult it is to find the FS that they really want in this scheme. That you can't find it typically with 3rd/4th/5th round guys (or maybe he said 4th/5th/6th). They want a FS who can cover sideline to sideline, but some safeties don't have the speed for that. So he said you look at corners (who have the speed and cover ability), but problem with most corners is they can't tackle.

Ramsey is all that and more.

If Fowler (or a FA) can provide the pass rush, and Marks comes back healthy to provide inside penetration, a player like Ramsey will change this defense because of the things he can do.

Interesting. Based on that and who will most likely be available come our pick, it is looking like he is our guy at the moment.

Given our selection spot? And his admission to how difficult its been to find that guy? Yes, I honestly believe this will be the case.

I agree, Ramsey has to be the pick. He's a can't miss physical CB/FS. I think he would be like Cromartie

Problem is the likelyhood of Ramsey being there at #5 is looking a bit less likely as each day passes.

Who goes top 4? Tunsil, Bosa, a QB, what else? That's where I'm struggling. Bosa to TEN or SD, Tunsil to the one that doesn't take Bosa, CLE with a QB hopefully, than who? Gotta hope Treadwell beasts and DAL wants to pair him with Dez, or they are desperate for a QB behind Romo and hope they don't trade for Manziel. Not sure who else we could expect DAL to take. They are good on the OL so Stanley is doubtful. Who else? Seriously...

I think we get a FS in FA so I dont think it really matters.  If we dont get a FS in FA than I can see us taking Ramsey but it is a safe bet FS is top on the FA list with Weddle and Gipson being FA.  We could only pray Berry hits FA but I say its about a 5% chance
