I think a lot of people have been quick to jump to Winston's side in this.. Of course if it is a false accusation and the sex was consensual, then this woman is trying to ruin Winston's life.
The police owed it to both Winston and the woman to better investigate this. Instead they thought they could sweep it under the rug. They did Winston no favors by doing so. And they certainly didn't do the woman any justice. I don't think you can conclude that she decided to go for a money grab, or that she regretted having sex with him after the fact. At this point, there's not much we can conclude. People love jumping to conclusions with rape cases, and it's absolutely appalling. For both sides. Rape cases should be taken seriously. Football player or not. It's going to turn into a 'he said, she said'. I don't think Winston will end up being found guilty -- but I'm not sure if that's because he's not or not. I'm sure the Winston camp will come out and say it was consensual. It's curious that the lawyer didn't have Winston do that when he was informed of the case initially. Along with witnesses to back up Winston's story -- who'd have the incident still fresh on their mind. But I guess he thought it could just 'go away'. Whether he let Winston know or not will probably never be known. To side with either person at this point is jumping to conclusions. Too many people are willing to proclaim him guilty from the get go, and too many people are willing to proclaim her as an accuser who regretted having sex after the fact. A lot of people are looking at it as Winston losing out on the heisman. But if it was sexual assault then the woman has been damaged a lot more than losing a heisman. One thing that can be said of this case -- is that the police department did an awful job all around. Accusations of rape should be taken seriously -- always. It's why so many rapes go unreported. When it's taken seriously, the facts can be better gathered.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

And most attorneys would rather their client excercise their right to not incrinminate oneself.

That doesn't imply Winston was hoping it would go away. Again, every attorney would give their client the same advice. I'm seeing more people accuse him on this board of being guilty then anyone saying he is innocent. Thing is, there is a ton of information they aren't telling us. To come to any conclusion at this point is premature. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Get off this board unless you can post something legitimate... Thank you..Im out! Gotta love this clown's logic. DNA found on underwear=RAPE! Quote:Gotta love this clown's logic. This is interesting: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BZmqwUOCQAArssl.jpg:large Again, there is so much unknown like if they had a prior relationship. We don't know anything and kind of sad that a poster "David" would keep responding the way he has. Quote:This is interesting: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BZmqwUOCQAArssl.jpg:large If what is in that link is true, and it was consensual and not rape (which I don't think it is), then IMO that girl deserves any crap she gets.

There's a difference between advising your client to not self incriminate, and not telling your client about it at all (which is potentially the case here). If the relationship was consensual and an on-going relationship there would be a lot to back up Winston's story. There's also a difference between accusing him of being guilty and saying he is guilty (which some here are guilty of as well). Versus saying he's innocent (because he's a football player that a lot of people happen to like). There's no way we can say one way or another at this point -- but I've already said as much. Also it's not just this board that jumps the gun.

Quote:So the story goes. ESPN.com claims to have seen the DNA report from FDLE labs. The ESPN.com report was filed by Mark Schlabach, the author of the book: "What It Means To Be A Gator" with forward by Urban Meyer. Yes...let's start putting rape victims faces out there for everyone to see...that will really help more woman come forward after they are raped!! Are you serious??? And are you really blaming all this on the gators? Wow
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:If the DNA matches, I'm assuming the Winston camp will come out and say the sex was consensual. And then will it be a he said/she said? Ugly situation no doubt. Wonder if those two witnesses of his told the police that he was with her at all...because that kinda wrecks them as credible if their stories don't include him having sex with her willingly.

Winston hadn't started having the year he's been having at the time of the alleged attack...that's the one thing that makes it hard to believe she was just out to ruin him or make money off of him.

No means no...period. I'm not saying he did it, or that she's lying. I don't know. But as a woman, it's important to put that fact out there!

There are women out there who will use an accusation for revenge. But a lot of people quickly assume that's the case in most rape cases. More of the story needs to come out before anyone jumps to any conclusion. Whether it be "Winston is guilty!" or "That girl is just trying to make a name for herself!"

Well...this alleged incident isn't going to do much to change the "Criminoles" rep.
Maybe the TPD should bring in a sketch artist to create a picture of the member in question...
