So the 2013 draft class was all trash

I've been saying it all year... Joeckle is garbage. He's practice squad material.

Quote:Sure, the 2013 draft was bad for us.  But let's not pretend that a lot of people weren't happy with the selections of Joeckel and Cyprien.  And sure it'd be awesome if we had Ansah.  But let's not forget many of us wanted Dion Jordan and some of us (myself included) wanted Geno Smith.

Bad class for us, but it just pans out that way sometimes.  Caldwell more than made up for it in 2014.
Agreed.  Most said Joeckel was the best player in the entire draft and Cyp was a good prospect himself.  But 2014 draft looks awesome and '15 has really good potential if Fowler does well.

Joke L is awful. We need to put this dude on roids or he is going to get Blake killed. Grade: F

Cyprien isn't Prosinski level bad but he has not lived up to his draft spot. He is at least worth keeping around. Grade: C

Bubblegum Gratz may be the worst CB I've ever seen. He either slips or gets burnt deep any time he is out there. Was decent as a rook but it's been straight downhill ever since. His effort on the 80 yd Mariota run was embarrassing. Grade: F

Gotta give Dave somewhat of a pass on Ace Sanders. No way of knowing he was going to ruin his own career. He wasn't particularly good in his short time but he had an ok rookie year. Grade: C

Shoelace was looking good, especially last year, but it all came unraveled these last few games with the fumbles. Still a tremendous athlete that works hard. Not a terrible 5th round pick. Grade:C+

Evans isn't really good and has no business starting at FS but he is decent depth and ST. Pretty much just as good as cyprien. Could do much worse in the 6th round. Grade: B-

Not gonna knock Dave for Harris or McCray. Most 7th rounders don't last very long and alot don't even make the team. McCray looked like a gem last year, what the hell happened?

Quote:The Lions have had some of the worst drafts over the years,  including 2011,  and the 2014 Draft looks very spotty at this time.   But in my 46 seasons as a Lions fan,  there's no question the 2013 Draft crop is the best one I've seen from this franchise.   Ezekiel ' Ziggy' Ansah,  Darius Slay,  Larry Warford, Devin Taylor,  Sam Martin,  and last but not least Theo Riddick are all good or better NFL players.

Yeah and the Jags had the jump on all those players aformentioned, but proceeded to draft for need and not B.A.P. I was on the fence about Anzah, but Slay and Warford should have been Jags.

Here's an interesting look at the 2013 ratings from CBSSports. Joeckel was #1. Cyprien was #12. Scroll down past the video.

And maybe they were really awesome talented youngsters that just happened to get coached by the worst coaching staff in the league and just never developed?

Quote:We have NOTHING to show for that draft. Not even a guy who gives mediocre production.
Oh I think we have several of those. Wasn't both Gratz and Cyprien from that draft? And Joekel! If those players aren't examples of mediocre production, I don't know what is.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster
