Would you trade the #5 pick?

#21

I can see the attraction of getting more picks, but I think what we really need now is top-level talent and the number five pick give us a better chance of getting the talent we want.

Eight picks should be enough.

Absolutely.  Trading out of 5 to get more picks is my #1 option.  If the Jaguars have someone #1 on their board and he still there at pick 5, then grab him.  If not trade out, but not out of the top 12.  I'd much rather go DL, EDGE, and FS/CB by trading out then just getting DL/EDGE and FS/CB.  If I can trade out and still get Buckner in the first, CB Apple or Ogbah/Spence EDGE PLUS FS Thompson, Kearse in the 2nd I'd be happy.

If Bosa and Ramsay are gone and the Jags have the opportunity to trade back to 6-10 with a team that wants either the best q.b. available (probably Lynch) or maybe even someone like Ronnie Stanley they should absolutely do this if offerred an extra 3rd rounder. They would still be able to get Alexander, Hargreaves or Jack and then use the extra 3rd rounder to move back into the end of the 1st round or the second round.

Quote:In 2011 we had a top 10 pick because Gene Smith stupidly traded up for Blaine Gabbert. Our assigned pick number that year was 16.
Like I said, we picked in the top 10. That's not debatable! How we got there is irrelevant with not a shred of substance. We picked in the top 10. Why does it matter to you how we got there? And at the time there were very few people disappointed in trading up for Gabbert because the entire fan base wanted a new QB and Gabbert was the perfect specimen of size, arm strength, mobility, and release. He was a miss, but one many other GM's probably would have taken a shot at as well.

If Bosa is there take him...

If Ramsey is there and the Jags haven't signed a safety take him...(maybe even if they have)

If neither are there move down with Jack being the target

I assume the Steelers regret giving us their sixth round pick.

Ramsay or VH3 will be there at 5. I'll take whichever one is on the board

Then I do what I can to trade down late in the first and pick Alexander.

What if both guys are on the board at #5?

Why don't you like Hargreaves?

I am afraid we will miss out on Bosa. At least one team that picks before us needs a DE.

Hypothetically if we signed Berry.  And grabed Ramsey could put Berry at ss.  And were set for a while there.  In that Scenario no we don't trade back.

Wouldn't picking Ramsey mean we don't trade back?

I would not move a player to SS when he is elite at FS. But that topic is for another thread.

I'd probably still favor drafting him at 5 rather than trading back. Kitty smoothies are popular in China anyway, I don't see the big deal.

Normally I'm in favor of trading back, but our need for FS is ridiculously pressing.  Ramsey (in my humble opinion) is going to be a star.  He's got elite speed, good length, plays nasty and can tackle well.  Over the past few years it's been hard to find a good FS in the draft, not just for us, but for the entire league due to how the college game is played.  Yeah, we need depth, but FS is a centerpiece in Gus' defense, and I can't see how we could pass up on a guy like that.

If he's not there I'd take VH in a heartbeat too.  If those two aren't there (highly unlikely), trade on back.

Agree. In my opinion there are few 1st round talents this draft... next year's draft will be INSANE tho, tons a talent through the first 3 rounds. Next year would be a great year to step up, win a bunch of games and still draft a top talent guy with picks 15-25 (area I see us pickin in)
