Duke in ACC Title game

#21

Quote:So Duke winning a share of the ACC title under Spurrier in 89 and going to a bowl game isnt considered relevant?

I am taking great pleasure in watching a meltdown of epic proportions.

They moved the game because of low attendance.
If conference co champions and going to a bowl and losing is relevant one season, then ok, they were. Duke is in the conference title game this year and will go to a bowl. Doesn't make them relevant.

What meltdown?

Im talking strictly about The Steve Spurrier era at Duke and specifically 1989.

You do know he had a winning record at Duke right?

So Duke having a winning record and making an appearance in the ACC CG is not relevant?

This is priceless coming from you Trav.

It may be relevant at Duke, but that's about it. You take the same 3 year record, and the same year 3 record and bowl finish to a school like Oklahoma. See if that is relevant.

1. Why is it priceless

2. the question you didn't answer, what meltdown?

Quote:I'll bet the ACC wishes the game was in Jax too....What a dumb move that was.

Why was the game moved to Charlotte? I thought the ACC decided where it is played.

Attendance. I think the ACC thought they'd have either or both FSU and Miami in the game year in and year out. The first year the place was packed. I went with a buddy who was a VT fan. Place was packed. Awesome atmosphere. Then teams like Wake, GT, BC and it crushed attendance. No better, and I think maybe even worse attendance in Charlotte.

Jacksonville isn't exactly close to anything in the ACC. Charlotte is at least in North Carolina around more ACC schools

See if that is relevant. That was my entire point. Those who were fans of Duke football back then may have thought it was relevant. Remember, everybody dosen't think like you.

1. Why is it priceless It's priceless because you insisted in the beginning when Spurrier was HC even with them winning it was irrelevant which clearly didnt make sense.

2. the question you didn't answer, what meltdown? The responses between me and you lately just dosent seem like you. You are more level-headed, but I think with the toll of the Gators football season has taken on you, your tone in your responses have been very unlike you.

I wonder why attendance was crushed?
