Noah Spence and Darian Thompson should be our 1st two picks

Quote:Didn't Bosa get suspended for weed? Marijuana detection would have caused a much longer suspension than only two games - most likely the whole season.
Quote:Marijuana detection would have caused a much longer suspension than only two games - most likely the whole season. Marijuana is the reason why Ace Sanders isn't playing in the NFL. You wanna rip Spence for his flaws, then you have to do the same with Bosa.

Marijuana is a one-two game suspension in NCAA, in NFL its a much bigger deal.

Quote:Marijuana is a one-two game suspension in NCAA, in NFL its a much bigger deal. But PED violations are 12 months. The NCAA needs to correct that and make it the same suspension duration for all failed drug tests like the NFL does.
Spence and Thompson were definitely 2 of the standouts the entire week. I believe Thompson would be more likely to end up with the Jaguars as he should be available when they pick in round 2. If they don't sign Weddle or Gipson in free agency and pass on Ramsay to take Jack, Bosa or Buckner then Thompson would make sense. Spence, on the other hand, will not make it to round 2 as someone will take the chance on him with the hope his drug problems will not re-surface. There is no way the Jags will take him with pick 5. They just can't afford another disaster like Blackmon, Matt Jones and Soward and even if character wasn't a concern I'd still prefer Jack, Ramsay, Bosa and possibly even Buckner. If he miraculously does fall to round 2, he would be worth the risk if the Jaguars' staff got a good impression of him this week (character-wise).
Quote:IMO all the hype on Noah Spence is based on what he did during Senior Bowl week. How much did people talk about him as a dominant player at Ohio State and Eastern Kentucky? At Eastern Kentucky, Spence was his conference's Defensive Player of the Year and an AP FCS All-American. At Ohio State, he had All Big Ten first team conference honors as a sophmore, and was the leader in sacks for his team. Yes, he was talked about as a talented and impact player, before the Senior Bowl.

Quote:You cant compare PEDs too causal drugs, PEDs is cheating and you would be banned in any sports league for that But the NFL does not suspend first-time offenders for 12 months like the NCAA did. Whether it is a PED or an illegal drug, the suspension is always four weeks for a first-time offender. Also, smoking weed for any reason is a crime in Ohio.
Quote:Not bashing you because I respect opinions, but would you care to explain what you don't like about Spence? The man looks dominant. Spence is a good prospect. He may have moved up in the draft with his performance at the Senior Bowl. But I'm not the one to fall in love with someone just because they did well in the Senior Bowl first and foremost. That's how Dee Ford ended up going in the first round, him and all 5.5 of his career sacks. Secondly, I understand that there are prospects that were considered objectively better prospects going in that didn't participate. It's not that I don't like Spence, I just don't like him at #5. I think it's absurd, and it's not because other people are telling me it is, it's because there are better prospects at #5 that will be available like Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack who both fill a need and are both some of the best prospects to come out at their position in years.
THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.
RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

What if the Browns took Allen Robinson at pick 22 instead of Manziel? It would be a reach and all of that NFL draft analyst stuff, but the truth is that ARob is a stud and Manziel is about to be in the CFL. I could literally care less about who is projected where. If I think Noah Spence is going to be a force for the Jacksonville Jaguars and stressing the QB alongside Dante Fowler, then I am pulling the trigger.

Seriously? Don't play yourselves guys, Ramsey is so average on tape. You watch and watch and watch and just say "where are the plays?" Throw the rankings out and use your own mind people. Don't be scared. I believe Noah Spence (if he is past his issues) is the best pass rusher in the draft and should be considered at 5 because the Jaguars have a terrible pass rush. The coaches and Dave have to really dig deep into him and see if he's ready to go to war for us.
Shock the world
I think Caldwell will question whether we're in a strong enough position to take a risk with the number five pick.
Spence had a good senior bowl and someone will pick him in the first round. But there are other players (who would probably also have shone at the senior bowl if they had been there) and I think we are more likely to pick one of them. Thompson is interesting and if he is still there in the second round, could be our pick...
Quote:NFL draft analysts still are not calling Noah Spence elite or a top 5 talent. They continue to put Joey Bosa in that category. Top 10? Maybe, if his drug problems don't scare off the first five teams after us. But that is a big if. I agree with that. Everyone's jumping the gun on Spence, and forgetting that most of the prospective first round picks didn't play in the Senior Bowl. Also, Spence got kicked out of Ohio State. Based on what went on at Florida during Urban Meyer's coaching tenure, I would think that you would have to commit some serious felonies to get kicked off one of his teams.
