Noah Spence and Darian Thompson should be our 1st two picks

Quote:Marijuana is a one-two game suspension in NCAA, in NFL its a much bigger deal.

It depends on if it's a school issued drug test or an NCAA issued drug test. Matthew Thomas was suspended six games last year for failing a drug test at the Rose Bowl.

It was called "a violation of team rules" at the time, so I am guessing Joey Bosa failed a school test.

Ill wait till FA ends until I pick who I would like our top 2 pick to be.  Ramsey, Boas, Jack, and VH3 are all close prospects to me so if we can fill a couple of those postitions in FA I would like to draft the position we dont fill.

More like we don't need to fill a starting job in the draft. It is still a good idea to draft backups in the later rounds.

Just one more month after Super Bowl 50 . . .

Completely disagree.  This talent-deprived 5 win team has a multitude of starting positions that could really use an upgrade if they have a true desire to be a playoff contender next season.  They will not be able to fill all these holes in free agency.  With a 5th pick in the draft, and a high 2nd round pick, this team should be able to find at least 1, if not 2, immediate starters in the draft.  And, then pick up some needed depth.  I agree with flgatorsandjags in that I will wait until after free agency to lock in on my desired top 2 picks.

You obviously took my post completely out of context. I was replying to someone who said what we do in FA determines who we pick in the draft.

Most people had no idea the Jaguars put Blake Bortles on their favorites list.

we do need to fill starting positions with the first couple picks. If we pick players in the first few rounds that couldnt start on this horrible defense we are in trouble

Then after picking those starters, should we get their backups in the later rounds? I think that would be a good idea.

At the end of it all, people are going to love or hate whoever we choose. If Spence is as good as he's shown and the drug issues are behind him, the benefit we have is that we coached him and don't have to go into much detail after like others will. Still a very long process to go

We have to go into as much detail with him as any other player.

Quote:I think you know that already. He did not interview well when teams asked him about his drug problems. That is going to scare off a lot of teams.

Where did you hear he didn't interview well? Because in every article I've read on the issue, based the direct quotations attributed to him, he comes across as open and contrite about his past.

There were conflicting reports that he did interview poorly.

Right before the State of the Franchise, Mike Dempsey texted Fat Tony live on the radio saying he was in the elevator with Caldwell and Shad and heard an interesting tidbit on Spence. Unless I missed, they teased this info but never actually said what the tidbit was. I tried tweeting Fat Tony, but got no response. Would be curious what Dave thought about Spence.

Spence is a virtual lock for top 15. Yes, character matters, but thats what the draft interviews are going to be for. If he does well in them, he could find himself in the top 10 if not higher.

Nobody is a virtual lock for any pick number range.

Noah Spence is a lock at number infinity.

I'd be surprised if Spence falls out of the top 10 picks come draft day, unless he does something stupid beforehand.

He had 8 sacks as a sophomore for Ohio State, for the stat lovers out there. He had 22.5 tackles-for-loss last season. But beyond the stats, he's just an animal, man. Quick off the edge, seems to have good instincts, and rushing the passer seems to come naturally to him. I keep imagining he and Fowler roaming around the line of scrimmage. I'd take him at 5, if he checks out.

Thank you! Someone with a vision..

Fowler and Spence along with a free agent or two on the defensive line would be a crazy boost to our pass rush.
